Please explain her talent to me? I just don't see it. You couldn't pay me to vote for her. She has NO range, no emotion. She sounds like she's singing into a fan. OK so she's the prettiest girl in the competition but it's not a beauty contest.

GO RUEBEN!

I totally agree with you. Carmen's singing just isn't very powerful. Perhaps she might benefit with some voice lessons, or work as a model, because she's a very attractive young woman.

Ditto for the comment about Rueben.

:D

I think she's just "ok". No range, nah, that title belonged to Julia.

I am a Carmen fan, but there are some performances that made me go "eeh" (bad thing) like "Call Me" and "Hoplessley Devoted To You".... But I absolutely loved "Turn the Beat Around" and "Wild Angels"

"Call Me" was her worst preformance (She chose the wrong song.Yes she may be blonde but she can't pull off Blondie).I suprised she didn't leave last night and instead Rickey "Hercules Hercules" Smith did.

It was an absolute travesty that she was, not only NOT voted off, but she wasn't even in the bottom three! Where are her fans coming from? Are they judging on looks, personality, age...? Because they certainly couldn't be judging on her voice. And I'm even going to be lax about people voting on her voice over-all, not one performance at a time. I think you can't isolate each performance because with that reasoning, Josh should have been in the bottom three last week. So if a voter for Carmen said, okay, "Call Me" sucked, but I'll vote for her because of the past.

I think now we're at the point where people will vote for someone based on their over-all talent (whatever the voter may feel that is), rather then individual performances. But that still leads me to ask, where are the Carmen fans coming from? She never gives strong enough performances! You compare her to some of the others, and each week she is just not as strong. What is it about this girl?

She's 18.
She's hot.
She has sex appeal.
She's young.
She actually knows how to dance.
She's in high school therefore her classmates vote for her.
She gets the teenage boy vote.
Younger girls (14 and below) relate to her and vote for her.
She has the looks of a singer.
And contrary to popular belief, some people do think she can sing, and I am one of them. You guys should really stop bitching and vote for who you want to win.

LOL ok. But I don't think I'm bitching. I said I don't get it, and then I asked what is it with Carmen. Thanks for naming some stuff. I don't judge American Idol contestants on looks and age though. But I know that's something that is working in the music industry lately, so go for it Carmen fans. But I tried invisioning this girl making an album with that voice. I just don't see it working. But if she wins, then I guess it WILL work.

a bunch of teeny boppers are voting for her. After all they don't know what talent is -- I mean they made Britney spears rich didn't they? I'm glad there are some people out there voting on VOCAL talent not looks and age.

Of all the AI forums I've visited, Rickey's message board hardly had very much activity at all. He seemed to have a very small handful of diehard fans but mostly it's been my experience that while you could very easily get a lively conversation going at Clay, Kim C, or Josh's message boards, I'd post at a Rickey board and wait for literally hours to see if anyone would respond. Now that he's been voted off his boards are buzzing like a nest of hornets! Hundreds of people came out of the woodwork to post "NOT FAIR!" and "RICKEY'S BEEN ROBBED!" which leaves me wondering...where the heck were all these people before he got voted off? Perhaps if they had put the same effort they do towards moaning after-the-fact into actually VOTING, Rickey would still be here

Honestly, I think sometimes people enjoy any excuse to complain

Another thing about Carmen.... when she performed "Call Me".....

she was very (dont know word) with Randy and Simon... when Simon was sayng that it was dreadful, Randy goes "Simon finally tells the truth tonight", and then when Simon goes "You cant sing songs like that", Randy goes "very true" "true" "true"....

Who else can tell that Randy doesnt like Carmen?

I dunno! The only 2 singers that I really like are Ruben and Kim Locke, but I can't exactly say that Carmen is a bad singer....:)

I'm a Carmen fan! She's awesome, and you can TOTALLY tell that Randy is biased against her, just like he always is biased towards Ruben... hmm...

he's biased towards Ruben? How?

I've heard people say that they do think Randy does the bias act toward certain (like Ruben, but, heck. I think plain and simple, Ruben can sing! And he deserves the props) and against certain people--like he'll constantly throw out the words "pitch problems" and "not your song." I don't know... I guess it depends on how you feel about Randy and his judgment. I don't know if I would call it being biased in any situation. When he continually critisizes Carmen it might just be because he really doesn't think she has the talent. I'm sure he's legit. Being biased would be terrible, so I think it's better that he genuinely think's Carmen simply isn't up to snuff. Even if she gave an undoubtely awesome performance in the eyes of EVERY SINGLE person in America, and Randy still thought she wasn't so swift, it would still probably be a real opinion, not biasness. I don't think we'll ever know what Randy really feels though. I'll just give him the benefit of the doubt, and say it's his opinions, period.

Now, if you want to talk about biasness, I think Simon is slightly (and I'll only say slightly) biased toward Carmen. He did say last week "Call Me" was "dreadful," and the week before that he didn't think "she sounded like the American Idol, but looked like the American Idol" (do I have that last quote right?). But for the most part, I think he is far too easy on her. He usually eats people alive when their voices are weak. Her performances most every week seem like the kind of performance that Simon would cut up. But that's just what I think. He must really think she is cute and has great stage presense. Or maybe he thinks her voice has what it takes. This is maybe about the first singer, Simon and I don't agree on. Heck, it can happen. :D. Maybe he isn't biased afterall.

Did you hear his comments to her last night? That was the rudest thing he's ever said to anyone....

No, last night was the first show I've missed yet. I didn't see any of it. What did he say?
