I am. I figure if I wasn't, I'd have to share all my stuff, and I'm really possessive, so it doesn't bother me.

I'm an only child. It actually never bothered me. People always ask me if I ever get lonely, being the only kid in my house, and I actually don't get lonely a lot of the time. I'm used to it.

I'm the youngest of 5 children. I never wanted to be an only child but I didn't like being the youngest in the family either.

Yeah that's right! I always had to share . But to this day I am not a very possessive person. Perhaps if you had had siblings you would not be possessive. But I have to admit that when I HAD TO SHARE I hated it!;)

I am an only-child. I don't like it but I don't dislike it - it's all I know. You know?
I dunno why people assume that only-children are gonna be spoilt brats. My parents only had one child to worry about and yet they still managed to pay me very little attention. If anything, they - my father in particular - insulted me and put me down at every opportunity they got. They still continue to do it to this day. I don't think they actually realise the damage they've done to my psyche over the years. Perhaps they thought that hurting me would make me stronger. Whatever their reasons, I hate them for it. My own mother told me that I'm "not a normal girl" and that I "don't look human". Is that the sort of thing a mother should be saying to her daughter????!!? What ever happend to unconditional love?!??
Sometimes I wish I had a brother or sister. It would be cool to have a younger sister - someone who looked up to me. Kirsty (my best mate) has a younger sister who adores her and I love just watching the two of them interact cos they have such a great relationship. I think it'd also be nice to have an older brother - someone who could give me advice about women and stuff.
Anyway, I'm Mossopp (or L.J. or Lorna or the "inhuman" girl......whatever you wanna call me) and I'm always gonna be an only child so there's no use in wondering what might have been. You gotta be happy with your lot in life, huh?

I am. I have two half-brothers, but I didn't grow up with them.

Sometimes it bothers me when I see a family on television and there's that sibling-bond they have. To have someone who knows where you're coming from 'cause they grew up in that same environment, too.

That's true for me too and I'm not even an only child. I am the oldest though. Ever since I was about 12, people have always been saying I'm mature beyond my years.

I have a sister who is 6 years younger then I am. My sister and I are complete opposites of each other. I hope that when we are both adults, that we will have a better relationship.

I am an only child, and I know what you mean. I can barely stand having a conversation with people my own age or younger...they don't seem to understand anything.

That's true for me, too. I was always more comfortable around adults. It was weird. I'd be around people my own age when I was a child and I never knew what to say. I actually didn't start feeling comfortable until high school. I also liked all the independence the teachers make you have in 12th grade. In all the other grades they would be constantly hanging over my shoulder and I felt like saying, "Leave me alone. I get what I'm supposed to do." I've always been independent. (I guess that's why I don't understand why some of my friends have to go to the washroom together.)
