I believe he missed nine...that's what I read someplace, anyway.

Redd Foxx left at end of the 3rd Season and did not appear in the last six episodes:

and then he missed the first 3 of the 4th season:

0401: Fred's Treasure Garden
0402: Once a Thief
0403: A Little Extra Security

So he missed 9 episodes between 1973 and 1974.
