With just four more episodes left in the first season after these, Paramount has one more Volume (#9) to release before the conversion to season-sets (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=218) that Gregg Oppenheimer reported would happen for Season 2.
LucyFan 04-06-2003, 09:59 PM Great! I can't wait for those two volumes to come out. It seems they are coming out fairly quickly which is good. Before we know it, the entire series will be available on DVD and we will have access to all of the episodes in order. I am planning on buying those two volumes as well as the 2nd through 4th ones. I can't wait to see the final volume of the 1st season. I absolutely love episodes #32 to 35, there were like the few of the best of the first season.
Mickey 04-07-2003, 05:48 AM Growl. Why don't they give Desi a disk cover?
SPLAIN 04-07-2003, 10:27 AM Desi who?
Mickey 04-07-2003, 10:39 AM You remember him, Splain. He's the guy who made Lucille Ball famous.
SPLAIN 04-07-2003, 10:44 AM Sure didn't take you long to come back with an answer on that one! LOL!

They must be against you. :(
Mickey 04-07-2003, 04:39 PM Everybody's against me. It's a conspiracy.
I'll have to make my own disk covers. :)
*ShortCake* 04-07-2003, 07:02 PM haha aw im sorry Mickey!! :(. I hope they come out soon!! Although I do have to say I have enjoyed watching dvd 5&6. I think I watched Breaking The Lease, and Fred & Ethel fight so many times I could probably recite both episodes with out a problem! LOL.
Mickey 04-08-2003, 05:35 AM I love that bit in Breaking The Lease when Fred and Ethel come in wearing large chunks of ceiling! Did you notice the bit in New Neighbours when Lucy gets the giggles?! See, people always say it's Desi that corpses, but she does it too!
I'm off now to get my DVD player fixed. Sigh. I suspect it may have been used a bit much lately. (Not solely for ILL though I hasten to add!)
SPLAIN 04-08-2003, 02:50 PM There's OTHER things besides Lucy?
Mickey 04-08-2003, 04:09 PM Yep. They've invented colour TV now you know.

Yes. Richard.
SPLAIN 04-09-2003, 11:14 AM Yes, i know, my idea of roughing it is watching black and white television!

No I didnt notice I will have to watch for that!! I notice that she and desi both got the giggles in Breaking the Lease though. LOL I was like aww thats the real Lucy and not her character! LOL. I love it when they do something like that!
Mickey 04-11-2003, 03:40 AM Splain, what would Lucy say if she knew that watching her is your idea of roughing it?!
SPLAIN 04-11-2003, 12:47 PM I meant watching a television that is only black and white, not a show that is in black and white, when i watch any CLASSIC tv show or film, it doesn't matter to me at all that it's not in color, but, when i heard that Lucy's maid in the 80's would watch a black and white TV i was shocked and appalled , for the BIGGEST TV Star the world has ever known to have a black and white TV in her house in the 80's, well, too much.
Mickey 04-16-2003, 09:12 AM July 1st is the release date for these apparently.
That's ages away!
:(
SPLAIN 04-16-2003, 10:20 AM I KNOW! Bring them out season by season already so we never have to watch chopped up versions again!
*ShortCake* 04-20-2003, 07:58 PM LOL Claude I know right!! Well at least they are putting i t out on dvd.. :D.
SPLAIN 04-22-2003, 11:39 AM I know, but at this rate, i'll be 90- before we get to the end of season six!

LOL Yah they are slow with these!! I wish they would "speed it up" a bit!!
SPLAIN 04-29-2003, 01:41 PM Wish i had thought of using that line just then, you're one sharp cookie!

Thanks Claude!! :D
SPLAIN 05-01-2003, 10:46 AM You're Ashley, right? It's a dilly, Ashley, why haven't you told me what you want on your tape yet?
*ShortCake* 05-01-2003, 10:51 AM LOL I know, its awful, I had to think of some things that I wanted!! I'll PM you when I get home from work :D
SPLAIN 05-02-2003, 01:57 PM Not necessarily shows ,but it could be tributes or a compilation tape of various things she did, just tell me what interests you the most in Lucyland.
*ShortCake* 05-02-2003, 02:33 PM Ok ;) Thanks again!! :D
Mickey 06-20-2003, 04:43 PM My copies of volumes 7 & 8 arrived this morning, though I haven't had the chance to watch them yet. Lots of extras, as usual. Shame about those pale yellow covers though!
Hmm. And still no Desi on the front...
There isn't a 'glowering sulkily' emoticon, so we'll have to go with the angry one (though I'm not really angry) "Grr. Argh." As a cardboard monster once said...
Mickey 06-22-2003, 05:04 AM Okay, I've now watched the first three episodes - "The Gossip", "Pioneer Women" and "The Marriage Licence". I think "The Marriage Licence" is probably my favourite so far. Poor Ricky! You'd think he'd have learned by now not to play tricks on Lucy - they never go the way he wants them to! And sneaky Lucy in "The Gossip"! - although it's got to be asked - why was their neighbour that willing to chase a milkman through the building, shouting slurs on his wife's good name, all for five dollars?! I guess we're not supposed to ask these things... :)
ricardo/mertz 06-27-2003, 09:48 PM 5 dollars was worth a lot more back then. Plus if they hadn't done it the show wouldn't have had a funny ending like it does.
I agree w/you Desi should be on some of the DVD covers.
I also think Ethel and Fred should too.
