Kay Scarpetta 04-06-2003, 01:55 PM Does anybody like them? They were featured on the Daredevil soundtrack, and their debut CD, Fallen, just came out March 4th. Must be pretty popular, because Fallen is number 8 on the Amazon.com sales rank!
I love them. I think "Bring Me To Life" is one of the best songs ever written. Amy Lee has great vocal skills.
Opinions?
fr00ti 04-06-2003, 02:32 PM I like that song "My Immortal". Me and my best friend made a music video for it, it was funny as hell. (and it wasnt meant to be funny)
laceyinthesky 04-06-2003, 04:01 PM I'm tired of hearing that "Bring me to Life" song.
Brandon 04-06-2003, 04:07 PM ooh! i love 'em. they're awesome. there songs soothe me, and her voice gets me a little depressed. bring me to life is one of my favorite songs, i haven't gotten sick of it yet...

AllIWantIsYourClutch 04-06-2003, 07:08 PM AHHHH! I love them sooooooooo soooooooo soooooooooooooooo much. Don't judge them on how overplayed "Bring Me To Life" is. Please don't do that. They're the greatest.
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 04-06-2003, 08:06 PM They are really good. I really like "Bring Me to Life" although the radio stations have overplayed it a bit. They are still really awesome though. I mean, they can't help that stations overplay their songs.

Let's put it this way- 'Bring Me To Life' is onr of the worst songs on the album, yet the song is magnificent. The album itself is just bloody brilliant :D
ABlairican Pie 05-18-2003, 03:34 AM I haven't yet heard Evanescence, but I just read...they're a Christian band? I read some letters in the latest Entertainment Weekly saying that they played for some bigwigs in the Christian music industry. Gee, there may be some hope for Christian music yet.
britt britt 05-18-2003, 10:18 AM I really like them, their CD is great!
Faith 05-18-2003, 03:46 PM I don't really like them, that chick's voice is really really annoying.

Ughhhhhh they are NOT a Christian band! They started out as one, but they are not one now. I'd refuse to listen to a band that would fit on the same shelf as Jars of Clay and Steven Curtis Chapman!

That's good, I'd rather have bands be themselves than be "co-opted" by the Christian music industry falling all over themselves trying to prove how "hip" they are. There really is no musical growth or lyrical depth in the CMI, sad to say. It's just a bunch of kiddies trying to prove they're "better than the real thing" by making a pale imitation of what's all ready out there.
Speaking of Jars of Clay, I have a feeling they got their name from the Alice In Chains EP from 10 years ago, "Jar of Flies", which was all acoustic alternative, just like JOC was touted as being. Lifehouse, Chevelle, and P.O.D. have Christian members, but they're not "Christian bands", they're like U2.
If one of these "Christian Crossover" bands became the next big thing, like U2 did, the Christian industry would be the last to know.
IownTheDivision69 05-23-2003, 03:57 PM yeah, it is kinda annoying at the end of 'bring me to life' when she screams "BREEEEEEEEEENG MEEEEEEEEEE TOOOOOOO LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE" at the end of the "IFE" it sounds like shes like dying or something. lol. yeah, that bugs me.
Mossopp 05-23-2003, 05:20 PM I have to disagree with you IownTheDivision69 - I really like the way Evenescence's singer delivers her vocals. In fact, my favourite part of the album is on the track 'Tourniquet' when she screams "I WANT TO DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!" at the top of her lungs. The emotion in her voice is simply captivating.

Ah.... my favorite part on the whole CD also. I swear, I will sit there and keep listening to that one part.
