View Full Version : Insomniacs
Bonnie Raitt 04-06-2003, 06:07 AM Any other insomniacs out there? It's five o'clock in the morning here and I have this audition tomorrow so I can't sleep. Not to mention I think I'm sick from eating pizza (I'm almost positive I'm allergic to the cheese because when I drank a milkshake I got sick too...great, that must mean no more ice cream *sob*)...so for all of you out there who can't sleep my screen name is ellen hugged me, send me a message!
*PinkLady* 04-06-2003, 09:24 AM I almost always wake up earlier than I want to; I don't know if that makes me an insomniac, though.
Mossopp 04-06-2003, 10:56 AM Not being able to sleep is one of the worst feelings. You just lie there with all these thoughts running through your brain and you can't shut them up!
I used to suffer from insomnia as a teenager (what didn't I suffer from as a teenager??!! ) but it's not so bad now. Occasionally I do have the odd sleepless night but alcohol makes me tired and I drink most nights so now getting to sleep isn't really a problem.
Not that I recommend you drink in order to fall asleep - I'll be the first to admit that's a stupid thing to do!
Titania 04-06-2003, 12:53 PM me.
most nights i manage to sleep for around 4 hours...other nights i sit up and watch movies, other nights i cant sleep because im up and just have to do something or i feel like ill go crazy (ie: clean my closet, sort papers, go running) its awful.
aromatherapy helps though.
Nanny Fine 04-06-2003, 12:57 PM I could only hope for this problem (I know that seems horrible) becuase I hate sleeping - I have so much to do that sleeping seems to waste my time. So it would be a switch for me to not be able to sleep. :(

Exactly. I usually put on headphones and sing along silently to stop thinking. Especially when I've had a bad day. I lay there ALL NIGHT LONG with those thoughts running through my head. Then, we get on thoughts about life in general, and by then I'm up and around doing something at 2 in the morning because I can't bear to lay there a minute longer.
I've done everything in the middle of the night.... homework, essays, made brownies at 3, polished my nails, you name it, I've done it
ABlairican Pie 04-06-2003, 01:20 PM I usually wake up in the middle of the night and it takes me hours to fall back asleep. Then when I do and wake up around 5 to get ready for work, I feel like, "oh, crap, I do NOT want to get up, I wann sleep some more..." Then at work, I have to struggle to keep from nodding off.
-*Leah*- 04-06-2003, 01:31 PM I don't have that problem. I guess that most people would say that I sleep TOO much ! I usually go to bed around 10:30PM on school nights and wake up at 7:00AM, and on weekends I go to sleep around 12:30AM AND wake up at like 12:30 PM !!! *LOL*
fr00ti 04-06-2003, 02:25 PM *raises hand* me! I stayed up laying in freaking bed until about 4 am, I guess I should have gotten online and talked to ya. Crap! Well anyway, I cant ever go to sleep fast. It takes me a REALLY long time so I lose alot of sleep.
I don't have insomnia, but my mom definetely does. She'll be up on weekends by the time 5am rolls around and she'll usually get tired around 10 or 11pm the following night.
Faith 04-06-2003, 03:20 PM I have insomnia really bad... I have had it for years... Usually when I can't sleep I get online or watch tv, which usually doesn't make me fall asleep any faster... I usually fall asleep at 7am and awake by 10:30 or 11:00 am.
Ravey 04-06-2003, 03:20 PM I go to sleep at 10:00-10:30pm on school nights and I have to wake up at 6:00am. On weekends I go to sleep at 2:00-3:00am and I usally wake up at 12:00noon. :D lol I guess I sometimes oversleep. :D
dawsongirl 04-06-2003, 06:26 PM I was for awhile. I simply cannot shut my brain off. But when I started taking Paxil, that stuff makes me drowsy and I haven't had trouble since.
Tuesday Weld 04-06-2003, 07:10 PM I have TERRIBLE insomnia!I just can't get to sleep at a decent hour,so it makes it really difficult to get up at a good time of the morning.I think not being able to sleep has got to be one of the worst feelings there is!
Blair85 04-07-2003, 11:39 AM I sleep too much. Over summertime, I used to stay up all night watching TV, listening to music, and just piddling around, but I can't do that anymore. Not even on the weekends. I'm just too tired from school & work, plus I get realyy bored at night anymore b/c the internet & TV doesn't hold my interest anymore :( In summer, I would stay up all night & sleep all day but I had to stop cause it was messing me up! Now, if I stay up past 12 I feel like crap the next day. Guess I'm getting old, lol. That sux because I like night better then day, but I can't stay up late anymore.
LucyCompanyPhan 04-07-2003, 05:07 PM i have insomnia. So does my mom. I think the reason I have it is because she has it. We are both up at like 2 am sometimes.
i Usually go to bed at 1:30 on schoolnights and get up at 5. i have no problem with that schedule. Thats my life. I'm surprisely up beat in the mornings. I come home after Track Practice and I usually take a nap (not because im sleepy, but because I have nothing else to do) If I can sleep in, I usually go in bed early 11:30 and wake up at like 11 pm. heh im really odd.
The reason I stay up is becos I'm bored. I could go to sleep, but I'm just use to it. Alot of people who have insomnia, stay awake because they worry about something but im the opposite, if I have a problem, or i worry I usually just sleep it off my mind. I sleep more when I'm stressed, mainly cos I don't want to think about it.
angel676 04-08-2003, 12:25 AM I've had insomnia for years and years and I think it's getting worse. The only time I have a good night sleep is if I'm wasted or if I'm sick, Nyquil totally knocks me out. Even though this is stupid, I sometimes take that even if I'm not sick, just to get a good night sleep. While lying in bed, my brain is in overdrive, I can never fully relax.
