Martin Luther King Jr. was a really great man. I wonder sometimes what people such as himself would have to say about the war today if they were still alive.

I agree. We listened to this song in my history class a few week ago and it makes you think about what else he would have accomplished had his life not been cut short.

I remember that day! I was only 17 at the time and didn't pay much attention to current affairs then unfortunately! But I remember vividly the day that Robert Kennedy was assassinated. It was on the day that I graduated from high school June 1968.

They say that there are certain events in history that if you were over the age of 5 you can remember exactly were you were and what you were doing. The first big event I can remember was when I was 8, and it was the OJ Simpson trial. I remember the day the verdict came out and our library teacher told us and we all had our own little opinions, which made no sense since we were in 3rd grade at the time.

Oh, yes, definitely. He was most likely considered "unpatriotic" for doing such dastardly things as fighting for the civil rights, of all things. The cad... :rolleyes: Of course, such wonderful people like J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI, and Sen. Jesse Helms thought he was a communist ("and they can prove it!").

This is a little freaky-deaky, but true:
On September 10, 2001 my dad was telling me how he remembered where he was when JFK was shot (Geometry class, taught by a retired army colonel) and I was responded with something like "Honestly Dad, who cares?". And then the next day, we heard about the WTC disaster and I was in Geometry class, and while the class was taught by an average Joe, a retired Army colonel [another math teacher] brought us the news. Isn't that strange?

I was in the fourth grade at the time when that happened and we actually watched the verdict on tv. After that we had to do a journal entry over what we thought about the verdict. I agree it was pretty ridiculous considering I was like 9 at the time.

i have no idea whats goin on
