View Full Version : NickatNite Vs. TV Land
Sean Snow 11-23-2001, 07:58 PM Which of these networks has treated 'Lucy' better?
TV Land or Nick at Nite
Please compare this when Nick was nicest to Lucy, since TV Land is supposed to treat newer shows (Especially the classics like I Love Lucy) better.

Shirley: [Swedish Accent] Hello little girl! What a lovely dress you're wearing there!
Laverne: What the heck was that?
Shirley: It's Swedish! That's the way they talk in Swedin!
Laverne: They don't nod their heads up and down like that!
Shirley: Yes, they do, I'm telling ya! I've heard em!
Squigy: I would take my lady to a quiet place and [Bleep] her eyes out. I would take a huge bottle of honey and I'd [Bleep] all over her. Well, I must have gained 3 pounds that night, but it was worth every [Bleep] glob!
Sonny: Is that your TV, or are they bleeping him?
Carmine: They're bleeping him alright! I know what he does with honey!
dawsongirl 11-24-2001, 01:31 AM I think TV Land because they've showed the pilot and are going to show the Christmas episode, and they seemed to do a good job celebrating the anniversary.

Get your kicks on Route 66!
Congratulations to the 2001 Winston Cup Champion- Jeff Gordon!
oldiesgirl 11-24-2001, 01:55 AM Do you know when they will air the Chirstmas episode?
DarleneIllyria 11-24-2001, 02:57 AM I agree with Dawsongirl. They showed the pilot, and will be showing the Christmas episode. Not to mention had a marathon to welcome it, and the show is about to have a 48 hour marathon of I Love Lucy.

Remember Nick-at-Nite's "Lotsa Lucy" Saturdays when they showed an hour of "I Love Lucy," followed by "The Lucy Show" and then "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour"? For two years, Nick carried all three series at the same time. For four years, "The Lucy Show" aired on NAN; "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" ran three or four years; and "I Love Lucy" ran seven and a half. Remember when Nick-at-Nite had a marathon that included an airing of "Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie," as well as episodes of "I Love Lucy," "The Lucy Show," and "Here's Lucy"? They also ran the "I Love Lucy" pilot at one point (the hour-long version produced for CBS and hosted by Lucie Arnaz). They once aired an episode of "I Love Lucy" dubbed in Spanish, and for a year or so, ran every episode of "I Love Lucy" uncut. I think NAN was very loyal to "I Love Lucy." And don't forget, NAN and TVLand are owned by the same company.
NCVARick 11-24-2001, 03:36 AM Oh, and I forgot to mention all those years NAN had those "Lucy Tuesdays." And yes, they also had a couple long "I Love Lucy" marathons, including one that ran for five or six nights in a row with nothing but uncut episodes.
PPatters 11-24-2001, 09:16 AM You can not possibly make a decision one way or the other. As was mention, Nick at Nite had the show on for seven and a half YEARS, TVLand is working on seven and a half WEEKS. Now, the only way we could POSSIBLY compare is by comparing how well Nick at Nite treated I Love Lucy during it's first two months on THAT network, and even then you can't make a very fair judgement either way.
LucyFan 08-18-2003, 08:45 PM I would have to say Nick at Nite because:
1) "I Love Lucy" ran at 9:00pm (the PERFECT time for the evening) from 1994 to 1997. That's three years. Beyond 1997, Nick at Nite kept "I Love Lucy" in their schedule no later than 11:00pm for most of the time.
2) Had continuous Lucy blocks such as "Lucy: Queen of Comedy" (featured ILL, TLS, & TLDCH), "Whole Lotta Lucy" (featured 2 episodes of ILL, & TLDCH), and Block Party Summer for a LONG period of time.
3) "I Love Lucy" practically dominated those Classic TV Countdowns every year and was like the number #1 show at the time.
4) Had many Lucy marathons such as ("Nick at Nite Loves Lucy", "Whole Lotta Lucy", "The I Love Lucy Top 10 Best episodes", ect.)
5) Aired two of her other programs regularly such as The Lucy Show and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.
In conclusion, I think Nick at Nite treated Lucy better than TV Land does now or ever has to that fact.
*ShortCake* 08-19-2003, 09:18 AM Nick At Nite definatly... we had Lucy nights on saturday night.. Lucy Tuesdays during block party summer.... awhole lotta lucy at one point in time.... I wish tv stations would still do that. That was awesome! N@N has changed though unfortunatly for the worst. I do not like Lucy's time slot either they have on TVland.. but im not really complaining too much, at least they are still airing I love Lucy.
SPLAIN 08-22-2003, 01:00 PM I don't get Nick and what i have is TV Land Canada, so it stinks, the only good show on there is I Love Lucy, same commercials all the time and a repeat of the same eps of the series over and over, i think they'll KILL the show, instead of getting her NEW fans!
