Choose your character that you think is the funniest and explain why. I like Rollo because he never let Fred get to him no matter what Fred said. Juilo was funny too but i think Rollo wins.

View Full Version : Rollo vs. Julio-Who's the funniest in Fred's Presence? TVFactFan 04-03-2003, 09:59 PM Choose your character that you think is the funniest and explain why. Some of that banter was just classic. Tuesday Weld 04-03-2003, 10:47 PM Rollo - I liked how he never let Fred get him down. *PinkLady* 04-03-2003, 11:02 PM Definitely Rollo. He has the funnier comebacks, and I think his attitude is hilarious. TVFactFan 04-03-2003, 11:09 PM Originally posted by maxcarey I agree with the choice of Rollo. I always wondered why he called Rollo a jailbird because i never saw a Sanford and Son episode with Rollo in Jail alone. The only time Rollo was in jail is when he was in Jail with Fred and Lamont which is why i'm confused about the jail jokes. RCA 04-04-2003, 01:24 PM I guess Im the only one who is going to pick Julio. I liked Rollo to but the way Fred insults Julios' nationality, the way Julio lives, the way he speakes, his goat, his family, and the list goes on. Fred really only joked with Rollo about criminal stuff, that I remeber. maxcarey 04-04-2003, 08:53 PM If you recall the episode with the "Tiptoe Burglar" Lamont and Rollo are walking through the precinct and one of the prisoners yells "Hey Rollo!!!" In Rollo's first episode (the one where they found a gun and later tried to pawn it), Fred asks Lamont who he was going out it. Fred: "Rollo Larson? Isn't that Rita Larson's boy? Wasn't he in jail" Lamont: "Yeah, who hasn't" Fred: "Well..I haven't and you haven't that's who and I don't like you going out with someone like that." Keep in mind that is not an exact transcript, but something to that effect and the jokes took off from there. The funniest Julio Fred scene was in the merger episode where they were doing the tv commercial and Fred was taling and Julio would be translating for chicano viewers using lots of emotion it was hilarious JUNKARIA!!! catlover79 09-03-2007, 12:48 AM I'll say Julio because he never let Fred get to him. Julio never said/did anything mean to Fred - and Fred was the one who always ate crow. TVFactFan 09-03-2007, 05:03 PM I'll say Julio because he never let Fred get to him. Julio never said/did anything mean to Fred - and Fred was the one who always ate crow. Julio did let fred gety him upset when he was yelling-SANGANO"-lol Spanish for "YOU BIG DUMMY" catlover79 09-03-2007, 05:07 PM Julio did let fred gety him upset when he was yelling-SANGANO"-lol Spanish for "YOU BIG DUMMY" OK, well, MOST of the time he didn't let Fred get to him. asiy05 02-02-2011, 11:54 PM Julio. Especially the episode where he's translating for Fred while shooting a TV commercial. catlover79 02-03-2011, 12:41 AM Julio. Especially the episode where he's translating for Fred while shooting a TV commercial. "JUNKARIA!!!!!" clj2 02-03-2011, 03:42 AM Julio, no contest. The cracks from Fred were just much better! catlover79 02-03-2011, 11:03 AM Julio, no contest. The cracks from Fred were just much better! The scene in the Mexican restaurant with the sangria is still one of the funniest scenes ever to air on TV. I still scream with laughter at it, and I've watched it at least a zillion times!!     MickeyMac 02-03-2011, 08:12 PM I gotta go with Rollo, but Fred and Julio sure had their moments. teddybare 02-03-2011, 11:50 PM Julio. Especially the episode where he's translating for Fred while shooting a TV commercial. Julio is hilarius in the merger episode with that suit with the funny tie on. But when he starts translating for Fred I laughed my ass off LMAO. Saying stuff like JUNKARHEA!!!!!!!!!!!! rollo's girl 02-27-2011, 04:26 PM Rollo, of course! You could always tell Redd Foxx cracked up Nathaniel Taylor nearly every time there was an exchange between the two. I loved the episode when Fred let everyone think he was dying so he could have a date with Lena Horne and he came down the stairs in the tuxedo and that funky hairdo. When Lamont asked him where he got the wig, Fred said it ain't no wig, it's my own hair, I just teased it. Rollo said, "Yeah, teased it, squeezed it and DISEASED it!!!" Nathaniel was laughing so hard he could hardly get the line out!! You could tell how funny he thought Redd was and how much he enjoyed working a scene with him. I sure wish they had used Rollo more. He was the perfect foil for Fred. And I think it was just assumed as part of the story line that Rollo had had several brushes with the law in the past and always managed to stay just on the other side of right by the skin of his teeth most of the time. I think Rollo really had a good heart and was a good guy, he was just easily swayed at times, shall we say. ;) |
