View Full Version : Should "Gidget" be on DVD?
Electric Slidewinder 04-02-2003, 08:44 PM I'm just wondering. Like TV Land doesn't even air the 32nd episode (or only once).
Well, you decide. It would be best,in my opinion, that "Gidget" should be on DVD with bios & out takes.
Agree or disagree.
Or taping it from TV Land.
Of Course! The show is adorable! :D
Impressions 04-10-2003, 06:06 PM I can see it happening, since there is only one season, they could fit eight episodes on four disks, and sell it as the complete series. I think they could have speacial features about the show and Sally Field, then, I think people would buy it.
BundyBoy10 04-24-2003, 11:22 PM Nah...It wouldnt sell. :p
Brandon 04-25-2003, 11:30 AM yes. i would buy.... and tv land does air the 32nd episode... if they didn't, there twice as nice schedule would be screwed up...
Speedo Boy 05-02-2003, 05:03 AM Yeah, It should.
And the show was funny & Sally Field is a great actress.
ficlopri 05-02-2003, 03:13 PM It's doubtful all that many outtakes of the show exist. A lot of the shows from the 60's lacked outtakes as they were soon destroyed after filming was completed.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-06-2003, 02:09 AM I know its on video (just bought them from Amazon!), but putting them on DVD would be great! Id buy the day it would come out!
GNR4eva 07-07-2003, 05:39 PM Yea IT should , I think it's cool , plus Sally Field is really good lookin , especially in this show .
Iz Rules
sam56 01-26-2004, 04:36 PM It would be good to have Gidget on DVD I would buy it. Sally Field was very cute and good looking in the show.
gidgetgrape 01-26-2004, 04:56 PM I would love to have Gidget on DVD!!! The problem with the VHS is that you only get a few eps and of course, the quality isn't as excellent as a DVD would be.
I heard that Sally Field doesn't like to acknowledge her work on Gidget or the Flying Nun. Is this true?

It's true. On an interview, she said she regrets being on those shows. She said she'd rather dance with Bruce Springsteen in a music video instead of being dangled with wires wearing an ugly hat or wearing bad '60's clothes & hienous '60's hair. And should've sued MTV for airing 'em in the '80's. :(
sam56 01-29-2004, 03:29 PM These shows made her the star she was.
gidgetgrape 01-31-2004, 01:51 PM That's ashame! They are both sweet shows and they haven't hurt her career.
Speedo Boy 02-18-2004, 04:02 AM She's not the only person,
Mark Wahlburg also regrets about his teen hip hop artist/model past.
And it also didn't hurt his career...maybe the "Planet of the Apes" remake, but that's something else...
And some like director Ron Howard has fond memories of thier past. (He played Obie on "Andy Griffith Show)
Who knows?

I wonder if she realizes that she still looked great in those bad 60s clothes and hienous 60s hair...
She was very, very cute on this show...and we enjoyed watching it when it aired on TV Land during a few weekends last year/early this year...
I would buy this series on DVD...it was an enjoyable show...and Sally was just too cute back then...
She even looked cute with the ugly hat in TFN...although I don't watch TF Nun, even when it airs these days...but I like Gidget. And I like Sally
Party Boi 03-21-2004, 03:47 AM Would love to see Gidget on dvd!I'd be there to get it as soon as it hit the stores.I grew up with Sally in this role as well as the Flying Nun.So there alotta good memories.
algebra74 04-21-2004, 07:00 PM Yes, I too would love to see the series on DVD, but I do not think that it will ever happen, at least not any time soon. I agree with the concept that it was only one season and that it would not be a major investment. There is, however, another fact to consider: because this series did indeed only last one season, many people are probably not aware of this show ever existing as many people probably do not remember "one season wonders". t is hard to image anyone ever releasing a DVD boxed set just to please a few thousand fans across the country. Also, because this series was short-lived there are probably not that many bonus footage avialable, if any, and from previous posts, Sally Field regrets doing the series and so probably will refuse to do any commentaries for the series. I think that if this series does ever end up on DVD, we can forget about any hopes of bonus features.
musicradio77 09-25-2004, 07:50 PM I was a Wal-Mart back on Wednesday that I saw the "Gidget" collection on DVD, and it was not a TV show, it was a movie. It includes three movies from the pre-Sally Field era includes the following:
1. "Gidget" (with Sandra Dee)
2. "Gidget Goes Hawaiian"
3. "Gidget Goes to Rome"
These three films are made before it spun-off into a TV show with Sally Field.
