View Full Version : Nick at Nite Wings
paul_belmonte 04-01-2003, 02:28 PM Did y'all see the "Wings marathon" on Nick at Nite last night? I know I did. I was surprised to know that "Wings" had opening credits, much less a theme song, because when I watched it on USA, there was no theme song or opening credits, just credits rolling at the beginning of each show while the first scene and the beginning of the second scene was playing.

Chocoholic 04-01-2003, 03:44 PM I saw it too. It was great to see it again after not seeing it for over a year. The marathon made me realize how much I missed watching the show. I really wish they'd make shows like Wings and Cheers again. The sitcoms on today just don't do it for me.
ziggy4500 04-01-2003, 08:03 PM i dusted off the vcr, went to walmart and bought a 10 pack VHS, and now i'm ognna try to get the entire collection just incase nick pulls the plug in a couple of months. damn watchin this show after 3 years, it feels so good:D
Johnwiley 04-01-2003, 08:18 PM Well, They showed Nick At Nite they showed "Wings" Last Night.

Nanny Fine 04-01-2003, 11:21 PM It has been a LONG time since I've seen this show and I'm thoroughly enjoying watching it! I dont think I apprecited it like I should have when it aired originally on NBC.
I'm LOL at the episode on now, Duet for Cello...
I do wish though that they were airing the episodes in some sort of order because they are all mixed up!
Adamantium 04-02-2003, 01:30 AM I taped many episodes off of USA, and I've noticed Nick at Nite's been showing scenes that USA cut out. I can't tell anything that Nick has cut, so maybe just for the marathon, they're being shown uncut.

I noticed that also. The beginning of the episode with Frasier and Lilith on the plane seems to have a couple of extra lines in it from when I saw it on USA. I never saw Wings when it was on NBC because I used to work nights but it would be great if N@N airs them uncut. Just would like to see them in order
Chocoholic 04-03-2003, 01:17 PM Man, another night of non-stop laughter!
I love the Clint Black episode. Brian and Lowell were both so great in that episode, especially at the party.
Lowell moving in with the Hacketts. "You sank my boat!"
Antonio being held hostage by Bob. I always feel so bad for him in that episode. He looked so terrified and I just want to comfort him
Helen and Antonio's quickie divorce in Mexico. Too funny! "Help me with the bats, Joe." :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Lowell's last episode always makes me cry :crying:
Why this show wasn't more popular and critically-acclaimed, I'll never know :(
Freakzilla 04-03-2003, 02:18 PM Wings was popular. The show lasted 8 seasons, so a lot of people were watching. It's just that Wings didn't get much respect from critics and became a target for jokes on other shows. Shows that weren't as good as Wings.
Adamantium 04-03-2003, 08:12 PM I noticed a cut in the episode where Lowell moves in with Joe and Brian. It was the opening scene. After Helen tells the guy off via telephone, and he comes in saying how he didn't want to miss their date. Well that's where N@N moves on to the next scene. However, from my USA tape, Helen tells the guy to hold on and then she whispers to the phone something about terrorists invading the airport and forcing her to say that. Then she hangs up and says "Boy have I got a story for you."
I guess I can understand why N@N cut that out, but I don't think it was too offensive, seeing as the episode was from 1993.
Chocoholic 04-03-2003, 08:51 PM I missed that part, but that's pretty stupid if they did cut it out. People are so P.C. sensitive sometimes that it just drives me nuts. I know some FOX affiliates have pulled the New York City episode of The Simpsons because it includes Homer visiting the World Trade Center. That's so dumb, IMHO.
VWAdam 04-03-2003, 09:01 PM I turned it on Nick at Nite around 8:55 Monday nite and I was getting myself something to eat when I heard the Wings theme song. It brought the biggest smile to my face to hear that again. It is my all time favorite show, ever. I was too young when it came on NBC(I'm 17 now) but I got hooked during the summer when I was 14 watching it on USA every morning. I went and bought a pack of blank tapes and I have recorded Tuesday and Wednesday and I am recording tonight too. My friends at school are getting tired of me talking about the night before's episdoes at school. :)
Chocoholic 04-03-2003, 09:14 PM You've come to the right place, my friend :D Wings rocks!
lakbk 04-04-2003, 02:02 PM I had some LOL.
6 episodes Mon-Thur
2 episodes starting April 4th to April 17th.
I dont see it showing on the 18th.
I hope that is not it.

Scorpio1187 04-04-2003, 02:31 PM Good news...
Wings is now to be part of the weeknite Nick@Nite lineup! It'll be on every weeknite at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. I'm psyched!!!:D :D :D
Chocoholic 04-04-2003, 03:12 PM I'm glad Wings got a decent timeslot. I hope it stays there for awhile. I also wish N@N would put Cheers back on at 10 PM.
blackbeard 04-04-2003, 08:17 PM N@N can retire Cosby, its been on too many times each night.
More wings and please show them in order, if not thanks for showing them anyway N@N:yourock:
Scorpio1187 04-04-2003, 09:24 PM I completely agree with the Cosby thing-let's put Wings on more and drop the shows we've already seen EVERY EPISODE of on N@N. But I do have to say that I am appreciative of ANY Wings that I see! :thanks:
blackbeard 04-04-2003, 09:45 PM I want my WINGS DVD please!!!!
Scorpio1187 04-05-2003, 12:55 PM Wings in order?!
Check out the N@N schedule site...could they be in order?? I think so! 2-part episode tonight..skipping episode 5 and moving on to 6 + 7 tomorrow night. Almost in order?

There are two different orders. The production order, which USA used to show. And then the broadcast order from NBC. Nick at Nite seems to be showing the Broadcast order. I prefer the Production order, myself.
TVJunkie101 04-05-2003, 04:38 PM Yeah, they're in broadcast order. Episodes 2 and 5 aired last night, and 3 and 4 air tonight, then it will probably go in order. They did that (obviously, lol) to air the 2 parter (eps 3 and 4) on the same night.
I hope they air the episodes in order, and air ALL of them so I can get them on tape the first time around. I probably should have taped the marathon, because it would be my luck if they skipped the eps in the marathon in the regular rotation. I doubt they will, but... with NAN you never know.
Chocoholic 04-05-2003, 07:47 PM Is N@N using the same syndication cuts that USA did? I thought the episodes they aired last night seemed longer than USA's versions.

I compared the Nick at Nite episodes to my USA tapes, and Nick at Nite shows scenes that USA did not. I haven't noticed any scenes that USA showed that Nick at Nite did not. (Except for that one scene I already mentioned involving a terrorist joke). So it seems like Nick at Nite is the better channel for "Wings".:D

Well, that's pretty cool.
On a side note, I was going to tape the series during the first run, but I have so much to tape as it is... I hope the next rotation they are the majority of episodes in order so I can catch them. Usually during a first run of a show, all episodes generally air, but I think NAN is skipping some.

From the schedule that Pav posted, all the episodes from the marathon will not air this first time around. Nick at Nite is good at skipping episodes, so I would just tape the show now, and plan on missing episodes and just keep on taping each rotation until they've shown every episode. That's what I have to do, since I'm retaping each episode due to Nick at Nite's added scenes.
Chocoholic 04-06-2003, 04:39 PM I hope they don't do what USA seemed to do and only show the Christmas episodes at Christmastime. That's pretty dumb, IMHO. Why can't we see the Christmas episodes all year round? Personally, I thought Wings had some of the best Christmas episodes.
I know they aired one during the marathon.

According to Pav's schedule, "Terminal Christmas" (season 2's X-Mas episode) will not air. But "The Customer's Usually Right" (season 4's X-Mas episode) will air. USA seemed to skip all their Christmas episodes except for "Insanity Claus". So maybe that episode isn't considered a Christmas episode since it's main plot is Bob holding a gun on Antonio.
I hate that they skip Christmas episodes, too. I've always hated that. Especially since I try to tape all of my favorite shows and I always have to wait until December before I get every episode. That's why I tape the TV Land Merry-Thon every year, just in case I decide, later on, to start taping one of their shows, I'll already have the Christmas episodes.
When I taped "NewsRadio" off of A&E, I waited two years to get the fourth season's Christmas episode, because they skipped it the first Christmas it was on.

I noticed that too. I think that one was the least Christmas-y of all the Christmas ones. Still, it's so annoying when they skip.
