Given the responses to the "Why do you like BMW?" type qestion, I thought that it may be a good idea to discuss what character we most identify with.
I can say for myself, I relate most to Shawn. Like him, I come from a background which has lead to a lot of the same uncertaintly and emotional turmoil Shawn experiences. I question, weather or not I am capable of loving another person romantically, I think of myself as someone who may never match up to my friend's successes and it frusterates me. Shawn sees Cory getting the better grades in school, having the more stable family relationships, cultivating good romantic realtionships, seeming to surpass him in almost every aspect of life, and seem to have the doors automanically open for you. I see the same things happen with my friends. I am Shawn and they all seem to be in Cory's position. Like Shawn, I experience some struggles with my father which put me in a similar situation as Shawn is in during the later episodes, stuggling with the some undesirable traits passed on from my father. I also hold a lot of anger from past experiences that were not visually surfacing until late high school and through college, also just like Shawn. The last parallel between my life and Shawns is having a history with my brother that has lead to a distance between myself and him.
Enough with how looking at Shawn is like looking at a mirror, who do you see in BMW that makes it seem like you are looking at yourself?
