View Full Version : Your Funniest Episode Of All In The Family
AtlantaBravesFan29 03-31-2003, 08:04 PM What's your funniest episode or episodes of All In The Family???
My funniest episodes of All In The Family is the episode where Edith writes a song and has saved up money for it and Archie installs a burglar alarm that has dogs barking,Cleavon Little and Demond Wilson played the burglars and after Edith sings the song she writes "Everyone Is Someone Till You Love Them", they give all the stuff they stole back to them.
The Refrigerator Story cracks me up every time I see it.
The No Smoking episode where Gloria smokes Archie's cigar is a laugh out loud riot, and Archie giving up cigars and Mike not eating for a day.
Sammy's visit when Sammy kisses Archie on the cheek is a classic.
Archie In The Cellar is really a classic where Archie is locked down in the cellar and he tries to get out is a laugh out loud riot when Archie says, Oh Oh, when the door is locked.

Hmm, you kind of already hit on the eps I think are funny. The Archie in the Cellar is the top funny ep to me. The others you mentioned are pretty funny too.
yankeedog79 04-02-2003, 10:43 AM Edith's Problem happens to be the funniest. The funniest part is when Edith cautions Archie to "stifle-stifle-STIFLE!"
AtlantaBravesFan29 04-02-2003, 10:56 AM Yes,Edith's Problem, where she goes through the change is a real classic, and where she says,"We Are Not Going To Disney World, Or Any Other World."
The one where Archie's niece Linda comes and visits and goes out with Lionel and they have a picture of Linda and Lionel together and Edith tries to hide the picture from Archie. When Archie finds the picture,he says,"THEY'RE SITTING TOGETHER ON THE COUCH-HHH!!! When Mike and Gloria ask what's wrong,Archie says,This Is Going On,and THIS-SSS IS GOING ON!!!
yankeedog79 04-03-2003, 04:21 PM Oh yeah. Linda and Lionel Step Out. That was funny, the way Archie freaked out over Linda and Lionel going out with each other.
What else is funny is Archie Eats and Runs, when Archie fears he has botulism from eating poisoned mushrooms. Mike was trying to call Ferguson's but Gloria kept sneezing.
I have videotaped these eps.
Another funny one is when Archie & Edith and Barney & Blanche go to this cabin and Archie & Blanche end up in the same bed. It makes me laugh everytime I see it.
Already Gone 06-20-2007, 04:34 PM "Edith's Problem" I can definitely relate to it.
Although, I haven't yelled "Stifle Stifle Stifle!" at anyone -- Yet!
PlayOn 06-21-2007, 07:11 PM Edith's Problem is a hoot. Jean really showed her talent in that one.
Nighthawk76 06-21-2007, 07:18 PM I can't think of the name of the episode off the top of my head, but I think the funniest episode of the series is the one where Archie unknowingly gives Jefferson a counterfeit $20 bill. The end of that episode, where they are trying to figure out how Archie can fix the money problem with George, is hysterical. Everytime I see this episode I am almost on the floor laughing.

shipoopi 11-10-2007, 10:52 PM This episode never fails to crack me up. From the beginning of the second half: "Not now, Archie, I ain't in the mood." to Archie listening to the Stivics bickering with a glass pressed to the wall: "...coming from a man who just a glass in his ear." to Gloria slapping Mike to Archie's amusement: "It was worth getting up for." to Gloria's cheap shot at Mike's unemployment: "But I'm smart enough to bring home the paycheck." This episode is one of my favorites of any sitcom I've seen over these 40 some odd years.
OH Nuts! 11-11-2007, 11:00 AM Maude's visit Season 2 Ep #12. I love the way every time Archie tries to "dish" her she goes tit for tat & one-ups him, not hard to do of course, as Archie puts the I in Ignorant.
There were so many great eps though--so many close seconds--another particular fav is when Edith goes thru menopause and has that complete change of character.
mikeny99 01-09-2008, 06:47 PM From the early seasons.
Season 1 - Mike's Hippie Friends Come to Visit is great stuff since the two of his friends are exact opposites of Archie.
Season 2- The Saga of Cousin Oscar is funny as heck. When Archie has to plan a funeral for Oscar.

needles1987 02-28-2008, 01:38 PM I liked "Everyone Tells The Truth"
TV_Forever 04-01-2008, 10:23 PM To pick one was difficult because there are so many wonderful moments and many were mentioned by others here but I'd have to say this one is just classic x infinity. To this day on the family grocery list its hmm hmm hmmm in heavy syrup since Edith couldn't say those words anymore, we don't either. Sometimes in a tough day, we even joke about it when they go in the cart.
Scoobiedoo30 04-02-2008, 12:00 AM I also love everyone tell The Truth.
elly mae 04-13-2008, 10:14 PM When Maude visited for the first time as Edith's cousin. LOVE that episode

My mother's favorite was when Archie "caught" Meathead sitting on the bed in his bedroom putting on his socks and shoes the wrong way. Meathead put a sock and a shoe on one foot, and then repeated on the other foot.
Arch was getting on his a$$ about that, telling him that the proper way was "a sock and a sock, and a shoe and a shoe." He even made Meathead take the one shoe and sock right and made him put the socks and shoes on like Archie demanded. Meathead just kind of said "whatever"' to Archie's request.
People of that generation were very much regimented and had only one way of doing mundane tasks like putting on shoes. I think it came from being in the military and the depression.
(This scene demonstrated a fatherly/son love Archie had for Mike, which in the USA is love with a lot of yelling. Note Red Foreman (That 70s show) with "dumbass".
