View Full Version : Another Fox complaint
dawsongirl 03-31-2003, 02:29 PM Ugh...okay, this isn't just Fox, 'cause I think they all do it, but-
I DON'T WANT TO SEE ADS SPLASHED ALL OVER THE DAMN SCREEN FOR WHAT'S COMING UP TONIGHT, OR TOMORROW, OR IN A WEEK!!! THAT'S WHAT COMMERCIALS ARE FOR!!!!!
Ahem...thank you.
DarleneIllyria 03-31-2003, 03:12 PM Another agreement, Cathy. I hate when they do that. I watch Buffy on FX and you should see some of the pop up ads during that show. I don't really watch anything else on that channel, but I bet it happens to every show. Anyway, they show these pop up advertisements for this show called Lucky. I should note that they already commericial the show to death during the actual commericial break, but then they do the pop up deal. This Lucky ad will come across the screen and some big ass dice come rolling across the screen. It's big dice and they do take up a lot of the screen. WHY DO THEY DO THAT? It's annoying.
Edit: Am I the only one like this? If something is commericialed to death, it just makes me want to avoid the show all together. The commericials don't bring my attention to something, they make me avoid the thing when the show/movie actually comes on.

Raises hand. I'm that way too. Push it down my throat, I'll just leave it alone, thank you.

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one.
FX really does the shoving deal. They had this movie that came on March 9th. Damn, I have that date engraved in my head thanks to all the commericials they showed for that movie. Anyway, the movie was called the Pentagon Papers and they just shoved it down way too much. That movie also screwed up something I wanted on the cover of the Atlanta tv guide. The Return to the Batcave movie came on March 9th, so I was ready and set on seeing Adam and Burt on the cover of the tv guide. It would just figure that Pentagon Paper movie was the cover story for March 9th.
E! is also going overboard with the promos.
All this weekend this damn "Anna Nicole Show" thing would pop up onscreen. C'mon! give us a break!

I rarely watch E!, but I'm glad you brought that up. I was recording something and the pop ups and the dog running across the screen and barking, really got on my nerves. Do they still have her dog barking on the pop up? That is really distracting. I think TNN has some serious competition. I know a few people bitch about the black bar, but at least the black bar is still. It's just there. At least the black bar doesn't make noise.

Yep. I had E! on this weekend while I was doing something on my computer, and I lost track of the amount of times I turned my head to see why there was a damn dog barking!
They really have to knock that off.
SciFi channel does the same thing. They did some stupid popup at the beginning of an episode of Tremors The Series, and I couldn't see the opening list of guest stars.
Enough already!

Oh, I completely forgot about the camera noise too. I'm not sure if they still do that, but everytime they'd scroll news across the bottom, they'd have that camera making some sort of noise. I do find that scrolling news to be helpful, but that damn camera noise just has to go.
I can't tell you how sick I am of those Tremors commericials. I don't mean to insult anybody that likes the Tremors movies, but were the movies that successful to get a tv show out of it? I don't know, maybe I shouldn't complain. At least Tremors is an actual show. It could've been another reality show.

Actually, "Tremors The Series" is a pretty good show, if you like low budget sci-fi shows. The Tremors movies have achieved a bit of a cult following, certainly enough for the original films to spawn two sequals; although I wasn't too crazy about part 3.
Czas na Zywiec 03-31-2003, 10:01 PM Fox is horrible with them. Especially for the ones for Married by America, or like last night, for the Pitts. It just makes me avoid Fox altogether except for Sunday nights. Like Jenny mentioned, FX has some pretty obnoxious ones too. TV these days.....you get more commercial time than actual air time for the show.
What I hate more though is when you have that one commerical during the ending credits, and they advertise the same show over and over again for two or three weeks and during the ending credits of EVERY show. That annoys me to no end.

Ah, a cult following. That def. explains it.

End credits, that's another thing. A few months ago, TNN was showing the original Star Trek movie. I wanted to record them and actually get to see the whole deal, including the end credits. Now you guys know how they smoosh the credits up and you can't see the names of the cast members. Anyway, they were showing these Star Trek movies and the end credits come up and they smoosh it up and start advertising CSI, TNN, and James Bond. Maybe it was another commericial with it, but those were def. the 3 biggies. They commericial the same junk over and over and over again during the end credits. It's just insane. Haven't they shown all those commericials before during the commericial break? Yeah, they drove me crazy with them.
You know, you'd think the people that work on these tv shows and movies would be really bitching about the shrink credits. Nobody will be able to see your name, unless you are two inches away from the screen and you have a magnifying glass. If you did work on a tv show or a movie, wouldn't you want people to see your name?

Ugh...I was flipping last night, and caught the end of the E!THS on Hollywod Squares, and that damn scroll thing came on. Spent more time looking at that than the show. :p

Have you ever seen how TBS does it? They smush them to 1/3 it's orignal size, but instead of it being smushed to the side, it's smushed the bottom. They're even worse! It's not that it's small, it's also distorted so the letters don't even look like letters anymore. It's still pretty bad anytime you smuch credits. The only channel these days that doesn't do that is Disney Channel. Also, a few months ago, Hallmark left the credits alone on Saturday mornings. I have two episodes of ALF where there's neither a voice over nor split credits. I don't know if Hallmark still does that anymore though. Haven't watched the channel.

Yeah, I've seen how TBS does it. It's just not right. I'm kind of surprised we have one channel that doesn't smoosh. I don't know about Hallmark either. I mainly watched Hallmark for FOL. I haven't watched the station since FOL was dropped.

Yea me too. I never really watched it before or after, but I decided I wanted to record ALF, since I haven't seen it in years and it was on at 4AM my time so it's not like I could get up that early to watch it. Then I hear that Hallmark is getting rid of ALF, just when I decide to record it. So as of now, I only have two eps. That was the last time I watched or recorded from Hallmark, and that was in the begining of December. That channel just annoys the hell out of me now.

I've had the same thing happen to me before. Hallmark does suck now. Don't they show westerns all day long now? Why not just form a new station to show some of the shows they dumped.
I'm still wondering why they bothered to add Gomer for awhile. I don't think they show it anymore, but when I saw they had added Gomer, I just shook my head and I knew it wouldn't last. It just didn't fit in. I like Gomer, but it just didn't fit in over there. Besides, TVL had just dropped it. They could've let it rest for awhile.

Alright, so I skipped my two earliest classes today (when dad lets me, I take advantage!!). Anyway, Quincy was on from 11-1 and I watched that. I admit, I kinda like that show. But how often am I gonna get to skip class??
Anyway, the day before I stayed home all day and watched dad watch Perry Mason from 9-11. Ha...then it comes on again from 1-3. Can we say OVERKILL??
WE WANT MORE HOGAN'S!!!!

Geez, can they possibly add another Perry Mason ep. Have we got any channels that haven't went that double take or even triple take route? I know it is easier to schedule double takes, but geez, it's just getting ridiculous.
dawsongirl 04-02-2003, 02:15 PM Very. Four hours of the same show is...gag. I couldn't watch that much.

I couldn't either. I'd get sick of it pretty fast if I sat and watched it that long.
Freakzilla 05-05-2003, 10:27 AM I agree with all of you. These networks are very annoying with the advertizing. Possibly the worst thing a network can do is squish the end credits of show that has a scene at the end with dialouge. What can make this even more annoying is when the ad has audio and you get listen to that instead of the scene. Like some of the episodes of Married...With Children on FX and Wings on N@N.
