Does anybody here go to them, and if so what are they like?

Yeah, um like half the girls at my school go tanning. I've never done it! I want to cuz im sooopale im almost see thru! lol but im scared cuz im claustrophobic but people said it;s not scary.

I just started going tanning regularly so I'll be tan for my trip in a few weeks. I've gone 5 times for 12 minutes each time and I'm not even that tan yet. It's not that big of a deal, even if you are clastrophobic. You can close it all the way and there is still a little opening and it seems like you can close it even further. Even my dad, who is a big guy, goes in them and he said he doesn't feel clastrophobic. Perosnally, I love tanning, I can fall asleep in one of the beds.

Even though my town is really small there are quite a few tanning places. Let's face it - tanning beds are the only way to get a tan in Scotland cos we never get any bloody sunshine here!
I would never use a tanning bed. I can't tan - I just burn cos my skin is so pale naturally.
Personally, I don't really like tans - I prefer women with pale skin.

I have never actually gone before, but I am not scared to go or anything. Its usually plenty warm enough here to get a tan in the Summer time.:cool: :crazy:

well I dont need to Tan because I"m Naturally Tan and when I go out in the Sun I just get darker
but My sister goes Tanning all the time and she says its not that bad

I have sort of a natural tan, so I don't see the need to go.

Nope. I wouldn't look good tan. I'm pale, and I don't think that color skin would mix with my eyes/hair color.

my mom works in a salon so she does and she tells me I can. But I just don't want to because I am afraid the UV Rays will make me get skin cancer. I'm kinda a whimp when it comes to that. My mom thinks I should go because I am very pale.

I went to one last year, but I had to go forever before I actually got a tan because of my paleness. After I stoped going, I lost it really fast. I'm not even going to bother this year. It gets really boring after a while.

I went tanning last year for my prom. I started off @ 5 minutes and worked my way up to 15. It wasnt a bed though, I stood up in mine. I burn, but since I worked my way up each day, it turned into a tan. It went from red into a light golden brown after about a week or so. It lasted a long time too. Im whicked pale and would love to tan more often, but theyre not the safest things so Ill only go for special occassions.

I don't and I wouldn't.I have fair skin,so I'd just be harming my skin.A little bit of sun in the summer is enough for me and even that is probably not great.

ive never been in a cancer box.

A little but not noticably. I don't tan easily and don't burn either so I have to go a lot before I get tan.

I don't need to tan, really. Yup, that's what comes out of being half italian. Mama mia. :p

I am VERY claustrophobic and it doesn't bother me! The light takes care of that! And you are not all enclosed . There is a gap between the lid and the bottom part. The only complaint I have is that I get too hot! But for a nice even all over tan it's great!:) :)

No kidding! I wish I was half anything that made me darker. But, no...I get stuck with being Irish. How many tan Irish people do you know??

Anyway...I've been thinking of going, because everyone does, and I look albino at school...so I should go sometime.

My great-uncle I think used one and he got skin cancer...he had these huge bulges on him...nope...and then my grammy (my mom's mom) died b/c of skin cancer. I will never ever use a tanning bed. I'm happy with the way I look NEwayz...

You all are so lucky :p .I'm of the Scotch-Irish,English and German descent,so I have fair skin that tans a little,that is after the whole summer and that's not even that much.So,now I just don't even try to tan anymore,it does more harm than good.

I go pretty much all the time, although sometimes I forget for weeks and don't go at all. I want to just buy a tanning bed for my darn house. But I think they are way to expensive. I gotta spend the money elsewheres. Plus all my friends would want to mooch, and I'd have to run them off. LOL I just hate the thought of lying in a bed where a person was just in there before me. But you clean it of course before, so it's really fine. It is awesome because I used to be so pale years ago, (I can relate to all you Irish/English/Scotish/German/whatever nationalities cause fairer skin--I'm 1/2 Irish) and now I'm never pale like before, even when I go a long time without tanning.

You should see how pale I am - I look like someone's just dug me up outta the ground!
I am perennially pale.......apart from - how could I forget - in Summer 2000 when I rather foolishly went on a bike ride with Kirsty, in the baking hot sun, without sun-lotion on. It wouldn't have been so bad were I not wearing my army vest at the time. Both my arms - every inch of them! - most of my shoulders and part of my back were a delightfully attractive shade of red (and peeling everywhere :barf: ) for about 3 weeks.
I was LOBSTER WOMAN!!!. Small children feared me and even the fiercest dogs shied-away at the very mention of my name!!!

I'll never be tan, so I don't try. I just use that fake tan in a bottle.

Yeah, I'm permanately tan lol. I mean, I'm not really dark or anything but I'm not white. And in the summer when the sun actually comes out for us ppls in NY, I get even tanner while all my friends get sunburned. LOL i swear, I don't think I've ever gotten sunburned. *knock on wood*

I wouldnt look right tan.....I could get a tan if I wanted to but it just wouldnt look right with my light hair

Well Technically I'm Dutch-Indonesian but You see the Indonesian in me more

I've been to the tanning bed plenty of times. I like to have a tan, but I am NOT gonna cook myself in one of those things just to get a tan. I don't go too often, and even when I do go, I never stay more that 15-20 minutes at a time.

My friend went tanning for the first time the other day and went in for 17 minutes and then was complaining that she was so red. I don't even go for 17 minutes and I've been going regularly for awhile now.

I lay in the tanning bed at my house. Right now I have a good tan going. They are not scary actually they are really relaxing. I always go to sleep when I get in.
