Can Lil' Sis Dawn Carry On? ... There are enough possible future Buffy The Vampire Slayer series scenarios available to boggle anybody's mind. One thing you can count on for sure is that Sarah Michelle Gellar is a goner. She already told creator Josh Whedon adios after this year! You can rule out Eliza Dushku coming back in the lead and reprising her role as psycho slayer Faith. Dushku has already signed for a new Fox TV series, Heroine. I've always believed that, from the very first day she joined the cast as Dawn, (Michelle Trachtenberg, UPN photo: John P. Johnson) was being groomed for the day Gellar would call it a "Buffy" career day. She remains the leading candidate to pilot the series into the next slayer generation, along with leading cast characters Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan) and Spike (James Marsters). However, another interesting scenario may become available soon. If the WB doesn't renew Angel for next year, it would open up the opportunity for Whedon to re-merge the two shows and re-consolidate the established fan bases of featured "Buffy" players with the additions of David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter. I could sell that! Regardless, if the future "Buffy" series winds continue to blow, look for Trachtenberg to remain the eternal KEY. This editorial is by The Boss at the HBEN Network.

So what does everybody think of that editorial? You know I think I'm prob. in the minority that actually likes Dawn. Yeah, I thought she was kind of annoying at first. She still has her annoying moments, but I kind of like her. No, she's not my favorite character.

However, I just don't see a show centering on Dawn lasting that long. That editorial listed the top two that might succeed with a spin off. I like both Willow and Spike and they are both popular characters. Idk, maybe I'm wrong about Dawn. Maybe she is a popular character, but I just don't see her competing with Willow and Spike.

Opinions?

No Faith? Bummer!
No, I do not think a series with dawn as the key character will sell very well. I know that the title will definitely have to be something more than "Dawn: the Vampire Slayer" to entice me to watch it.
Maybe it's time for Joss to move away from Buffy spin-offs and toward new things...

I think a show that has Dawn as the main character is a really bad idea.. To me she is still the whiny little kid she was back in season 5. I think that a show with Willow or Spike would be good, well mainly cause they are my top favorites in the Buffyverse.

Also has anyone heard anymore about the Giles spinoff?? I heard one was supposed to be coming sometime in 2004.

I read Joss wasn't going to do the Giles spin off 'Ripper'

Also I think if there is a Dawn spin off it will be canceled really fast, most fans hate her. I am hoping for a Willow spin off that would be exciting to watch.

Another thing I read at another board, James Marsters said he will be in Angel next season if there is one. WB hasn't decided whether Angel is picked up or not.

Yeah, I heard about that too. I think it might help Angel. Don't get me wrong, I like Angel, but it just doesn't have the memorable characters like Buffy does. Hell, I like just about every character on Buffy, except Riley. The only memorable characters on Angel are Angel, Cordy, Wesley, and Fred. Maybe if I see the show straight through, I'll grow to like all the others. I'm just saying Spike would def. add to the memorable list.

Okay, lets say Angel does get picked up and Spike does join Angel and gets to be a regular cast member. That'll be cool. I'll be happy. If we have Spike taken care of, do the spin off with Willow. If Angel does get canceled, I say they join together whatever is left. If David, Charisma, James and Alexis want to continue on with their characters, add them to the Willow show.
