There was a blood drive at my school and since I'm 17 I decided to donate. I was really freaked out and when I was down there I finally got to the point where I thought I could do it and one of the nurses said I couldn't do it because she thought my veins were too small. :mad:

So, have you ever given blood before?

My school had one a couple of months ago, but I wasn't 17 yet, so I couldn't give. I think we're having another one this year, so I might give now that I'm actually 17.

I have never donated blood before, but I don't guess that I could anyways seeing that I am only going to be 15 in May. I would probably like to some day, to help the Red Cross

Yes. Junior year we had one. I signed up because given blood doesnt bother me, even though needles do. So it comes up and I go in the mini gym to do it. Well, little did I know that they have to take some blood out of your finger to test for iron. Well, I remember I had to get that done in 6th grade and didnt like it at all. I pulled my arm back and blood went everywhere-- so I was deciding whether or not to do it. Well, I sit down and the nurse gets ready and Im seriously freaking out. Im on the verge of crying and Im getting shakey because I am so scared. She tells me (nicely) that I dont have to do it if I dont want to, so I leave. A couple hours later I feel bad and decide to try it. The next lady was a real bitch-- grabbing my arm hard. BITCH! Well, she did it (and it hurt). WTF.. I couldnt even donate because my iron was too low. All that for nothing!!

I called the Red Cross after Sept. 11 to donate blood and they never got back to me. I would like to donate blood sometime. I don't even know what blood type I have.

no I had a severe bleeding problem in 99 and became anemic and I can't give blood.

you have to be 17, i'm almost 16 and you have to weigh more than 110, which i don't. i want to donate blood someday, even though i hate blood tests and needles blood being taken out of my body. it's nice to now i saved three lives.

when I had my bleeding problem I had my blood tested weekly so I'm so used to that I don't even blink, but I hate getting shots or IVs put in

My mom couldnt give blood until she was like 25 because of that reason.
