For those of you that have seen the Love American Style Happy Days pilot, What do you think of The original Mr. C, Joanie and Chuck?

I Think the original Mr. C was alright. Hes Not as good as Tom Bosley but he was alright. I Kinda liked the original Chuck too. I Didnt care much for The original Joanie though. It was just weird seeing someone so totally different than Erin Moran playing the role.

It's hard to believe that Harold Gould [AKA Martin Morgenstern from 'Rhoda'] played this- and he sure looked a LOT different clean shaven than he'd later appear! I realize that this was a one-shot for an anthology series instead of the actual show, but IMO Tom Bosley had MUCH better chemistry and repoire with the other family members than did Mr. Gould!

Ric Carrot played Chuck. Mr. C is played by a skinny bald man and Joanie has red hair.

Richie, Potsie and Mrs. C are all played by the same Actors/Actresses

Fonzie and Ralph are not in it.

And instead of Arnolds they go to this little Malt Shop.

Rare but not unheard of. Star Trek had more than one. Happy Days had two. The Love AM and an anaired one which is the same as ep#1 but witha few differences and ablonde haired girl playing Joanie. The second pilot title is "The Happy Days" and the opening "Rock Around The Clock" sequence segues right into the show. At the end of the of the show when "Happy Days" plays
they do the credits, w/pictures. Henry Winkler and Donny Most are inlcuded, as well as Ron Howard being billed as "Ronnie Howard". Sorry I have nothing to screen caps with right now.

Oh, the Malt Shoppe and some of the Love AM footage is shown as flashbacks during the one of the season 1 eps "Who's Sorry Now" when Richie's girlfriend from the pilot returns.

There pics are shown. Here is the order.
Ronnie Howard as Richie Cunningham
Anson Williams as Potise Weber
Tom Bosley as Howard Cunningham
Marion Ross as Marion Cunningham
Henry Winkler as Fonzie
Donny Most as Ralph Malph

The episode itself is identical to "All The Way" There are extra scenes, but I don't know if these were cut from the show when "All The Way" was made or these are scenes that are in the original show, but are cut in syndication. Examples: Richie actually going to play chess with Mary Lou is shown, which it isn't on TV Land and there is more to their convesation at Arthur's (Arnold's).

Don't know what the story was w/ "Arthur's" other than that it was only in the 1st ep. Maybe Chad knows what the Malt Shoppe was called since i've never see tne actual Love AMS Ep.

Very interesting. When the revised pilot/first episode aired on ABC, Anson Williams was billed after Ron Howard, rather than Marion Ross, and got the "Co-Starring" credit. By the second episode, Ross and Williams had switched places in the credits. TV Land has never shown the pilot credits correctly, although I have seen it in syndication. I'll have to check out WGN when they air it -- they seem to have older prints of the show.

As far as the multiple pilots issue goes -- "All in the Family", "Three's Company", and "The Love Boat" each had three pilots!

No i dont think They Revealed the Malt Shop's Name. They May have but i havent seen the Pilot In years. Nick At Nite aried it once in a first episode Marathon. They aired it as the first Happy Days episode. Personally i think they should repackage that and make it a Happy Days episode.
