Jimi HendriX- An amazing guitar player, a charming man, and a great artist whos life was too short. His music is amazing to me. Every song is a different journey. Are you experienced is an amazingly great song. It sounds like he has a dj in the back ground mixing it up but it's actually his guitar.. GENIOUS he was a master guitar player and made the guitar sound unlike anyone before him.... This thread is a tribute to Jimi's Memory!

*PinkLady* 03-27-2003, 04:23 PM I really like his music. He definitely should've lived longer and made more great songs.
MonarC 03-27-2003, 04:51 PM what a loss to the rock-n-roll community and what im really sad about is people who are not experienced when it comes to Jimi
Crimson and Clover 03-27-2003, 05:49 PM Jimi was great. I love his music

ABlairican Pie 03-28-2003, 09:06 AM I was just hearing his performance at Woodstock on the radio (Star Spangled Banner, Purple Haze, blues instrumental solo). It's great!!! I would like to hear more of his stuff than the usual on the radio, but I guess I'm gonna have to go out and look for it.
"Burning of the Midnight Oil" is killer, as well as "Voodoo Chile" (part 1 and "Slight Return").
I was born on his birthday 20 years after him--which might explain my interest in guitar...:guitar:
MonarC 03-28-2003, 10:24 AM It's the songs that you don't hear on the radio that are really good. Like "Villanova Junction" also at Woodstock and "Belly button window" that song is a trip "I don't live today" is a totally freaky song because it's like he knew he wouldn't ber around later when people would hear that song.....

:rock::guitar: JIMI ROCKS
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 03-29-2003, 12:00 AM I saw a kid on "Search for America's Most Talented Kid" play Jimi Hendrix on his guitar tonite. He didn't win, but I must say I am proud of the kid's dad. He's raising his son right, with a love of rock-n-roll.

That's cool. I was born 21 years after Kurt Cobain on his birthday, and I really wanna get started on guitar myself.
ABlairican Pie 05-26-2003, 11:01 PM I was listening to "Axis: Bold As Love" on KZOK's Saturday Night Six Pack and I can't believe how amazing he played!! For a while I thought it was just a bunch of hype, oh yeah, we all know how well he played, etc., but when you actually sit down and listen to an entire album of his, you get blown away.:eek: There is so much more to his music than the typical classic rock staples.
I'm proud to have been born on his birthday!!
MonarC 06-03-2003, 09:43 AM yeah, you have to listen to his albums as a whole. They take you on a journey or a "trip" if you will. I love to hear diff albums at different times. Like "electric lady land" is perfect for a long stormm day or night... I love Axis: Bold as Love anytime... And the woodstock album is just amazing "villanova junction" is so moving it's like he's pouring his soul out...

I was looking at guitars today in town. There was this cool black Jackson, the kind that Marty Friedman played in Megadeth, with Seymour Duncan pickups...I wanna get it.:cool:
dandelion wine 08-03-2003, 02:43 AM The man ruled when it came to the guitar, and the way he performed "The Star Spangled Banner" is incredible. I've been a fan since I was a kid, and I think he rocks! :rock:

The Obsolete Man 08-09-2003, 02:56 AM The albums the Hendrix family condensed down and released as "First Rays of the New Rising Sun" showed that if he had lived, Hendrix's music was only going to get better.
For example, "Angel", though technically incomplete, was one of Hendrix' best songs (IMO, Of course).
Oh, and Just imagine Hendrix doing a Floyd-like concept album...
MonarC 08-09-2003, 11:48 AM It's such ashame that he died so young and in such a bad way too. I love his music. He IS the GREATEST!!!!!
