Welcome, Danielle! How did you wind up a Sandy Duncan fan? I'm surprised someone your age even knows who she is. She always had a wholesome, girl next-door image which she nearly shattered with that character she played in ROOTS. Did you see that? I think she proved her acting ability with that role because she managed to make us forget she was this cute, lovable person, convincingly tranforming herself instead into a very dispicable character.

wow Danielle you are on just about every group I am on lol Welcome to SOL. Who is Sandra ? The only sandra I have ever heard about is Sandra Bullock. :D. Claude, I thought your joke was funny ;).

Not Sandra, Sandy Duncan, she's an actress. She had her own show in the 1970's The Sandy Duncan Show, she played Sandy Hogan in The Hogan Family, and she played Peter Pan on Broadway.

I think Sandra Bullock is a great actress as well.

Thank you, i always forget to add LOL! I swear i don't mind talking about anybody else on the boards, i was only joking about weaning you off of Lucy. If we always only talked of Lucy, it would get repetitive and boring, after a while. I can connect Sandy and Lucy though. When Fred Silverman was hired by CBS to revamp their old style image and get rid of the deadwood and bring in new blood, he created three new series and tried to get rid of Lucy and he cancelled the bucolic comedies Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction and Green Acres, he also got rid of Ed Sullivan and Jack Benny and many others. Lucy and Gary heard him at a party saying he wanted to rid CBS of it's old dinasaurs, but Gary reassured Lucy she had nothing to worry about as his whole reputation rested on the success of his first three shows, one was Sonny and Cher, one was a New Sandy Duncan comedy series and the other i forget, but all three were hits and he managed CBS for years and eventually Lucy left and retired. He went on to the disaster Supertrain and now does independent projects and is still active in the business, but he was one of the first people to see how talented Sandy Duncan was. Also, when Valerie Harper had a contract dispute with NBC over salary and content on the Hogan Family, it was Sandy who was brought it to replace her!

I like Petticoat Junction, it was pretty good, but not very popular i think. I don't understand was Valerie Harper fired or did she walk off The Hogan Family? Sandy Duncan was a good choice for the character of Sandy Hogan. I like Valerie Harper too. She was also great in The Hogan Family.

I never saw The Sandy Duncan Show, I think that was the name of Sandy's show. Anyways I would love to see it. I know that it stared also Tom Bosley who played Howard Cunningham in Happy Days.

Valerie hated the fact that the kids were getting all the plot lines, she signed on to do a show about her character and she quit in a huff and was replaced by the producers with Sandy. I know Sandy was blind in one eye, but i fail to remember how she lost her eye, don't you know?

Sandy had a brain tumor, she had surgery for it and that's why she's lost sight in one eye. Splain, do you know if Valerie ever disliked Sandy for replacing her in The Hogan Family? I have been wondering about that. If she did I guess that'd be ok, we can't all like everyone.

Well, on the one hand, you have to resent the person that takes YOUR job, however, you also have to remember that she didn't TAKE your job, she was asked to do it and if she hadn't, someone else would have. I NEVER heard her criticize Sandy, but the producers, that was a different story. They went to court.
