Hey all!
By now we have pretty much decided that freddie;s singing voice was just as fabulously sexy as his speaking voice.
Lets say Freddie were to make a singing record, what type of music would it be and what songs do you think he would choose to record,OR do you think he would write his own songs?

Being a student of voice myself, I feel that Freddie's singing talent going so largely unnoticed was one of the bigger tragedies of his life.
Lately I have become enamored of the talent and dark good looks of a another young man with a wonderful, wide-ranging singing voice--Josh Groban. On his first album is a song in Spanish called "Alejate (Go Away)". It is very sad, very dramatic. Every time I listen to it, I hear Freddie's voice in Josh's.
I believe Freddie would have sung in his "native" Spanish as well as English, and that his voice could have handled most types of music. The sadness that plagued him would have made it particularly easy for him to "sell" the kinds of emotional ballads in both languages that are common to such singers as Josh and Marc Anthony.
Of course, he also had an "exhibitionist" aspect to his personality that would have allowed him really cut loose on something more uptempo, like the dance music Marc and Enrique Iglesias sometimes do.
I understand that Freddie wrote music, and I think he was such a perfectionist that he would have insisted on recording mainly his own compositions. But he would have probably also given breaks to struggling songwriters, considering the generosity he was so well-known for among his friends.
Gee Mariposa it's great to see you back on the boards! You have been missed and please check out the newest Freddie site the cafe.

I never really left (I read the posts here several times a day), and I still see Freddie as the ultimate example of masculine perfection.
It is just that these days my heart is being held captive on the other side of the world, and much of my inspiration is coming from there......
Oh and BTW, great site, the Cafe!

I agree with Mariposa and Joy. Although I never really got a chance to hear Freddie's voice in all it's potential...I'm sure he had a great singing voice just from what little he did on the show.
I'm not sure what songs he would have sung....but do know that everytime I hear "Moving On" by Rascal Flatts..I think of him. I never tire of that song just for that reason. No matter what Freddie would have tackled...he would have been outstanding in his efforts because he was a perfectionist. Miss you Mariposa.
I see a lot of people coming back to the boards...Freddie Magic ya know!!!

I sooo totally agree re that Rascal Flatts song! I hear Freddie's story in its lyrics. At least the story that might have been....
For those unfamiliar, here it is:
I've dealt with my ghosts and faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I’ve found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I’m at peace with myself
I’ve been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
I’m movin’ on
I’ve lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they’re always the same
They mean no harm but it’s time that I face it
They’ll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don’t belong
I’m movin’ on
I’m movin’ on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there’s no guarantees, but I’m not alone
There comes a time in everyone’s life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone
I sold what I could and packed what I couldn’t
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I’ve loved like I should but lived like
I shouldn’t
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
I’m movin’ on

I just HAVE to post the original Spanish and the translation for the song that I mentioned by Josh Groban, "Alejate"!
And the English translation:
I never felt so much love in my soul
And no one but you loved me
Because of you I laughed and cried,
I was reborn, I changed
What I had I gave to keep you here
I know that saying goodbye is best
Suffering, I will pay for my mistake
Nothing will be the same, I have to accept it
And find the strength in me for this goodbye
Go away, I can't bear it anymore
There is no way to go back in time
Forget about me
And let me go on alone with my solitude
Go away, go on and tell me goodbye
And I will resign myself to go on without your love
(Note: the word "calor" literally means "heat"--a great way to describe love IMHO LOL!)
And I will never understand what happened
If there's nothing I can do, go away
I'm not going to repent for yesterday
Loving you and I know, woman
For that love, for always being faithfu
l Today I have to be strong and learn
Go away, I can't bear it anymore
There is no way to go back in time
Forget about me
And let me go on alone with my solitude
Go away, go on and tell me goodbye
And I will resign myself to go on without your love
And I will never understand what happened
If there's nothing I can do, go away
Go away, I can't bear it anymore
There is no way to go back in time
Forget about me
And let me go on alone with my solitude
Go away, go on and tell me goodbye
And I will resign myself to go on without your love
And I will never understand what happened
If there's nothing I can do, go away
Now, can't you just hear Freddie singing a sad song like this?!
