View Full Version : Oscar Pools
So, how did everyone do with their Oscar picks?
For the first time ever, I won my annual Oscar Pool!
Woo-hoo! 150 bucks baby!
Drinks are on me!
I hit on all four acting categories, plus best picture and a screenplay pic. I was going to pick Roman Polanski, but there was no way I was gonna endorse him.
Anyhoo, how did everyones else do? Are you pleased with the results of last night?
Georgia's on my Mind 03-24-2003, 08:22 PM I really thought Renee Zellweger was going to win best actress...(although she looked completely awful...I'm surprised Joan and Melissa didn't make more fun of her...and she was squinting the whole time they were presenting Best Actress) but I really thought she would win... I was happy that Chicago won best picture. But I was so disapointed Chicago's "I move on" lost to an Emeniem song... And it was funny to see Catherine sing while 9 months pregnant...
Despite all that I was SO excited that Olivia DeHavilland was there. She is the the best. And it was also great to see the Vivien Leigh/ GWTW clips....Karl Malden, along with the rest of the stars who have previously won oscars.
I just cannot believe that Eminem can now put "Academy Award Winner" on his resume.
Martin Scorcese doesn't have an Oscar, but Eminem does...
:faint:
;)
AllIWantIsYourClutch 03-24-2003, 09:01 PM Okay Chicago totally deserved that. I was so excited. Oh man.
Renee Zelwegger got totally cheated.....by miss Nicole Kidman and her fake nose. But Catherine Zeta-Jones won best supporting actress....oh my god that was awesome!!! I was like bouncing off the walls lol.
Eminem didn't deserve that. I'm sorry but he didn't. "I Move On" is 267617362 times better than that damn overplayed piece of.......garbage. And he didn't even have the balls to show up. Pisses me off.

Nicole Kidman was a sure thing - she is a Hollywood darling, plus The Oscar voters love a pretty actress who "uglies" herself up for a role.
Catherine Zeta Jones was pretty much expected to win. She can do no wrong right now. Besides, who wants to make an expectant Mommy sad?
Renee might have lost last night, but it won't be her last nomination.
She'll be back.

;) troo troo...
and yoo knew Chicago was gonna win when Michael Douglas presented the award. He's not gonna present the award for a moofie that his wife wasn't in....does that make sense? yes.

Pitooey 03-24-2003, 10:10 PM I wanted Renee Zellwegger to win but, Nicole won.........
As we all know the Oscars are given to SOME people because of politics.
Nicole didn't get the Oscar the previous year so they gave it to her this year.
As for the movie Chicago. (I did vote for it). Catherine Zeta - I was happy for her.
I really enjoyed seeing all the past Oscar winners. That was my favorite part. I also enjoyed Kirk and his son Michael. :)
Sitcomwriter 03-24-2003, 11:42 PM Well there was a problem with the printer last night so we didn't do it but we usually do.I should have bet money on Michael Moore making a fool of himself with that speech of his.I could have been a millionaire now!

*coughs* ahem.. have you ever even seen The Hours?.
FriendsFan1010 03-26-2003, 10:56 AM hmm ill have to go with ash here, but have you even seen the hours? i mean like you know, if you have then great! because its a wonderful movie but if you havnt you cannot really say anything about that! and like im not saying this to get in a fight or anything, i totally respect your opinion, but its just that you have to see the hours to know that nicole kidman DESERVED best actress and she is the most wonderful (in my opinion) actress ever! and she really deserved it!! if you saw the hours you would see this breathtaking preformance by this gorgeous (inside and out) person who just has so much talent! She not only PLAYED virginia Woolf but she BECAME virginia woolf! Virginia practically embodied her so when you look at the screen, its not nicole you see, its virginia! as you can see i really like nicole she is my fave actress and so, im just sticking up for her saying that she deserved it more than anything! so dont say anything until you see the movie! and if you still have that opinion i respect that, but i have very different ones.
luv,
Kay
