Call me weird, but I think these lyrics remind me of Lucy and Desi. (Especially the part where the guy cries over her!) The song is called "He Stopped Loving Her Today," and I believe it's from the 60s or 70s (not sure).
He said, "I'll love you 'til I die."
She told him, "You'll forget in time."
As the years went slowly by,
She still prayed upon his mind.
He kept her picture on the wall.
Went half crazy now and then.
But he still loved her through it all,
Hoping she'd come back again.
Kept some letters by his bed,
Dated 1962.
He had underlined in red
Every single 'I love you'.
I went to see him just today,
But I didn't see no tears.
All dressed up to go away,
First time I'd seen him smile in years.
He stopped loving her today,
They placed a wreath upon his door,
And soon they'll carry him away,
He stopped loving her today.
You know, she came to see him last time.
And we were all wonderin' if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind,
This time he's over her for good.
He stopped loving her today,
They placed a wreath upon his door,
And soon they'll carry him away,
He stopped loving her today.

Oooo. I'll have to listen to that one. This brings up something interesting. I'll be in my car and a song will come on and I'll listen to the lyrics and I'll think, "That's Lucy and Desi in a nutshell."
Here's a good one: Journey's "Faithfully"
Listen close to the lyrics; IMO, they sound like L&D in the 40's.
Download it; I have it on my computer, but don't know the lyrics off hand.
BTW- George Jones did that song.

Yet another one. This one is sung by Trisha Yearwood and it is more recent. So sweet! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif
I Would've Loved You Anyway
If I'd've known the way that this would end
If I'd've read the last page first
If I'd've had the strength to walk away
If I'd've known how this would hurt
I would've loved you anyway
I'd do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
I'd've loved you anyway
It's bittersweet to look back now
At memories withered on a vine
Just to hold you close to me
For a moment in time
I would've loved you anyway
I'd do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
I'd've loved you anyway
Even if I'd seen it comin'
You'd still have seen me runnin'
Straight into your arms
I would've loved you anyway
I'd do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
I would've loved you anyway
I would've loved you anyway

Yet another one... (Yeah ok, I'm done now..I swear! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif )
"The Dance"
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

Oh, I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!! I'm not big into country, but that song is GREAT!
I was watching this totally obscure TV Movie called Nashville Beat one day and Garth Brooks was in a scene at a honky-tonk bar as himself singing The Dance. So not only did I get to see Milner and McCord reunited, but that song as well. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
That really didn't have anything to do with anything, but eh...
