View Full Version : Guys or girls - who makes the best friends?
Mossopp 03-21-2003, 07:25 PM Who do you get on better with - guys or girls?
I'm female but I get on better with my male friends. A lot of my straight female friends act a bit weird towards me - I think they're worried that people will think that they're gay too just cos they hang about with me. They have a tendancy to be a bit judgemental.
My male friends on the other hand are cool with me. They're just like "hey, you are how you are and that's fine". As far as they're concerned I'm just one of the guys and that suits me perfectly.
How do you guys feel?
*PinkLady* 03-21-2003, 07:28 PM It's easier to get along with girls. Guys are sooooooooo immature.
Georgia's on my Mind 03-21-2003, 07:29 PM it all depends on the person...but most of my really close friends were girls
actually now that i think about it i think ive had the same number of girl and guy friends...i dont know now...
Christopher 03-21-2003, 07:34 PM I get along better with girls. Some guys are just stupid. They back stab you right when you least expect it, well for me anyways.
Titania 03-21-2003, 07:45 PM guys.
though ive had both as friends, nearly all my really close friends are guys. girls are really cruel a lot of the time and i dont trust them much..seems theyve always been the ones who spread the gossip. my guy friends ive always found to be more honest about things.

Yeah, I totally agree.
Girls can be extremely two-faced and bitchy behind your back. Whereas if a guy has a problem with you he'll just tell you to your face. I appreciate that kind of directness.
I've also found that my male friends don't sell me out as soon as they get a girlfriend. I've had so many female friends just stop calling me and seeing me as soon as they start dating a guy. I'll only hear from them again once they've broken-up with him or if they can't see him and I'm the only alternative. If a guy I'm mates with starts dating a girl then he'll still keep in touch and talk with me. Guys seem to have a better understanding of what the word "friendship" really means.
Of course, there are exceptions, but generally I find guys make better friends.
Bad_Company 03-21-2003, 07:54 PM I think it all depend on who your friends with. Some girls are cool and some not, when i was in school i think i had more friends that were guys. And I think girls tend to do more gossip and talking behind your back than guys do. Most of my girlfriends stabbed me in the back only a couple were cool. Not to mention I went to a school fulllll of HOES! so go figure:lol:
:argue:
:boxing:<------Me hitting a stinky skanky bitch:lol:
David 03-21-2003, 08:14 PM I'm a dude.. and I like being friends with both girls and guys.. but sometimes girls can be sooo moody.. and i understand why at times.. and other times its about the littilest things, and they sorta hold it on you. and I kinda dont like that. But my dawgs! They're kool... I like my guy friends. They're tight..
Brian 03-21-2003, 08:17 PM When it comes to being just friends, girls usually have been the way to go for me.
Chad22 03-21-2003, 08:24 PM Dogs!
~LadyJess~ 03-21-2003, 08:39 PM I have mostly girl friends but I do agree that girls can be gossipy and bitchy behind your back. Not all of my friends are like that, but some of them are. Guys aren't like that and for the most part they are easier to talk to because it's so easy to offend girls by saying a simple little thing.

Thats exaclty the way I feel !!!! :)
Kay Scarpetta 03-21-2003, 09:07 PM Depends on the person. When I was in Kindergarten-1st grade, my best friend was a guy. But you see, the problem with me and my guy friends is at one time or another, something called a 'crush' develops....

Are not are not are not!!!
:p
At the risk of openin up a big ol' can of worms, I subscribe to the belief that a man and woman cannot be friends, much less best friends, so since I am a guy; my best friends have been other guys.

Can to, can to! I'm friends with a former boss who I worked for only one year back in 1995. He's married with kids, and I'm married too. It just works. I'm honestly not attracted to the guy.
I know what you mean though. Most of the time, someone wants to take it further.
If a girl's attractive, I can like them for who they are, but there'll always be part of me thinking "yum". If they're ugly as hell, I can have a wonderful friendship with them that will last all time.
With guys, the better they are at sports, the more "yum" they are. No, I'm not bi. I just mean that the more succesful they are, the less I'll like them for who they are, than for what they represent.
So, in short, I like magazines and armchairs.
Krystal Lake 03-21-2003, 10:16 PM Guys, definetly. (I'm a chick, BTW.)
To put it simply: Women are bitches. I know what they think. That's why I don't like them. ;)
It's kind of like this. Like in nature with animals, there's usually one dominant female in a group of males. All the men 'worship' the female. If another female enters the group, they fight to the death and the more dominant one reigns over the pride/herd/etcetera.
For humans, instead of fighting to the death it's a competition over who has the best clothes, who's the prettiest, who has the best boyfriend, and so on.
I guess I was just born to be the Alpha female of my circle of male friends. :)
Hell, I even drove my mother out of the house when I was 16. :D
AnaheimPMWitch 03-21-2003, 10:35 PM its pretty evenly split for me My girl friends and guy friends are both awesome but I will admit us girls tend to be alot more gossipy and mean sometimes

i couldnt agree more..women are bitches..i know. i am one. :p
and that "dominant female" thing explains a whole lot.... my lunch table is all guys..except me...and whenever another girl sits w/ us i have this urge to just kill her!
brownsocks 03-21-2003, 11:19 PM for me it's a pretty even split between the numbers and how good of friends they are. the girls i'd consider friends are the ones who keep me going and alive but my guy friends are the ones i know will bail me out if i get in over my head because i'd do the same for them. and i guess i kinda look out for all the girls who're my friends too cuz some of them make bad choices
and tjl guys and girls can be best friends! i mean my best friend is a girl
dawsongirl 03-21-2003, 11:39 PM A good chunk of my girl friends were back-stabbing bitches. I never had a guy do that to me.

Yep, yep. Even my best friend was too wrapped up in her marriage to tell me whether she moved to Minn. or not. :p
Czas na Zywiec 03-21-2003, 11:50 PM I think it's pretty safe to assume that people get along better with the opposite sex. As for me, I have a bunch of guy friends, but overall, I have more girl friends. Note: It doesn't say girlfriends. :p

This is true.
I have this female friend who loved hanging around with the guys. If one of us tried to bring another gal into the fold, forget it! She wouldn't have anything good to say about her! (Yet she would accuse us of jealousy if we ever made a comment about what loser du jour she was dating) Or if we ever show favor to one of her female friends she would show up with, that girl would never be seen again.
Come to think of it, she never did set me up with that cute brunette she brought to the 1999 Superbowl party...
She is not gonna get a Christmas card this year!
;)
Montana Ponine 03-22-2003, 12:15 AM Well, guys my age are EXTREMELY immature. For the majority...they mature so slowly!!!! But online I seem to get along with plenty of guys, even if they are my age...

Same here. I remember a friend I had in 8th grade and she was always nice to me when it was just the two of us, but as soon as another girl was around, who was in our art class, she just became really bitchy and made fun of me.
I have had and do have close friends of both sexes. For some reason I tend to become friends with women more easily it seems than most guys do.
*Marilyn Monroe* 03-22-2003, 12:45 AM Guys, because if you tell a girl something, she goes and tells. If you tell a guy...he usually doesnt.
Kristina 03-22-2003, 12:51 AM Girls...
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 03-22-2003, 02:13 AM Ive only had female bf's and theyre cool. Ive always wanted a male bf. I think we would have so much fun. Not like that..LOl. I mean.. there wouldnt be pressure or anything.
Classic FOL Fanatic 03-22-2003, 02:30 AM I have both good girl and guy friends, so I don't know...
Warm & Fuzzy 03-22-2003, 02:34 AM Most of my friends are females.
I don't really get along well with boys, unless of course... I like them. :o
Rockapella722 03-22-2003, 12:52 PM while a majority of my friends are girls, guys tend to be better friends. you dont fight over guys (even if theyre gay), over clothes, and they never take sides no matter what the fight youre having with someone else is about. they tend to listen more than girls when you have a problem, rather than continue to grope their significant other while they pretend to listen. (i have female friends who do that! ugh!)
Mijada 03-22-2003, 01:30 PM When I was little most of my friends were guys because I had more in common with them because I was such a tomboy. Now I have the same amount of girl friends as guy friends. I agree that girls gossip a lot more that guys. But for me girls are easier to talk to about more personal things. I can talk to guys about TV, movies and sports but that's about it. Most guys that I meet don't want to be just friends. They seem to always want more. Sometimes I would just like to be able to go out with a guy and not feel like I owe him something afterward.
*Melissa* 03-22-2003, 07:06 PM I get along better with females. Since I'm one myself, I feel I can share more with them and they can relate to things better. Besides, about 90% of the guys I've meet were jackasses.
Hollow 03-23-2003, 03:37 AM Guys are funner to hang out w/ cuz theyre outgoin and funnier and they aint sensitive, all my friends are girls but i just hang out w/ the guys sometimes and we make funna eachother and they say my spikey bracelets are dog collars that belong to my poodle named fluffy lol
