Did you ever see her and Gary being interviewed by Barbara Walters in the 70s? They asked her why this marriage worked when her first one didn't, and she said in that foghorn voice of hers, "Because this time I didn't marry a loser." Whew -- tough lady.

TV Guy, she must have been joking maybe?! LOL Because her daughter Lucie said that her mother and father remained in a *loving* aka friendly relationship after they separated.

I saw that interview. Could have something to do with the fact that Gary was sitting right next to her. Gary was SUCH a pushover/wimp. Guess that's what Lucy wanted. And I keep reading that the people that worked for Lucy thought he was an idiot when it came to TV production. Any thoughts?

Lucy didn't mean "LOSER" in that sense during the BW interview... she meant it by the fact that Desi had it all, and then lost it, as she explains in the interview. His show, his business, his health, his family and the love of his life. Instead of the term loser as "One who sucks", Lucy meant it as "One who has lost", I hope that makes some sense! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

LucieFam, I understand what you're saying but I guess you would have to hear what else she said to make it all make sense.

No, wait a minute guys.....about the LOSER thing. Lucy clarified this. When she said that Desi was a loser she didn't mean looooozer, like we know it. She meant and said that Desi "had a need to build up and tear down (marriages, studios, gambling etc.) and he had to lose everything". That's what she meant by loser.
