I have been working on my tape collection so I can finally trade and I wanted to put on new labels. I have been to Best buy, staples, office max and several other stores, but no one has ever seen them. Any suggestions??

Painter's tape works good, masking tape. You COULD print out the labels on your computer and either tape them on or glue them on but it would have to really stick to avoid coming off in the vcr. It is hard to find good labels, that FIT tapes and are CHEAP. There are some "avery" packages that work with your printer but they are EX-PEN-SIVE!!! But those are some suggestions. The masking tape works very well. I am currently switching my tapes over to that. I use the "number" system. I number my tapes and have an info book, that lists what's on that tape. A whole lot easier than squeezing it all on a 1-inch label. That way you can include lots of info about what's on the tape.

I label all of my tapes using masking tape. One strip goes on the cover and the other goes on the front spine of the tape. I have a Microsoft Works Database listing what's on each tape.

Thanks for the suggestions. You would think that the video companies would have thought of something like that!!

Anyway, when I was at best buy I did see new tapes that have washable labels. You just rub on them and the writing comes off using a special pen. But, they were expensive.

I downloaded a set from http://www.homeandoffice.hp.com/hho/us/eng/video_dvd.html but there are lots of other places. What I've done is print these off on regular paper and glue with a good glue stick (not school glue).

For labeling the boxes themselves, I measure the size I prefer and type up titles on plain paper. Then I use clear packing tape to tape the labels to the very ends. Because we have a LOT of videos, we keep them on shelves with the short end showing, rather than long end. With consistent labeling, it looks a whole lot neater than handwritten labels and easier to read at a glance.

I have extra labels for tapes {ones that come with the tapes different brands} some just side label, some just front label, some both, and some full. Quantity: about a couple of baby hand fulls. But you can always go to the post office, jack some sticky label tape, and then cut strips out from that. :lol:

Or.. Go to the 99¢ store... can't get cheaper than that... get some gift-labelling things.. and tada!

I like the idea of using the smaller labels and labeling the side of the box. This way you do save room on a shelf. I noticed that after a trade and started doing it myself.
Everyone does have a lot of creative ideas for labels, but I still wish the companies would sell them. Infact I might write to one of them and ask. I'll let everyone know what happens.
