View Full Version : No wonder "Joanie Loves Chachi" was a failure
I usually enjoy the Joanie/Chachi episodes but "Life's More Important than Show Business" was terrible. The band members were just attrocious--the bickering siblings(?), the brain dead surfer--did they put any thought into those characters?

Good for him, but i'm sure he wrote many other episodes that were much better. Anyway, that episode did have a good premise/first act where Fonzie lured the record executive and it featured Joanie & chachi which is never a bad idea--especially in season 10.

 Mr. Doody, you're going to have so many people confused....*tsk, tsk* :nonono:
Just playing it safe--i don't want to offend anyone. The people on this board seem to be polite but many other boards get all upset at differing/unpopular opinions.

Yeah
HDfanLiz 03-20-2003, 07:40 PM I agree, those other characters seemed really annoying. I love Joanie & Chachi centric episodes, but I didn't really like that episode very much and it wouldn't have made me want to watch JLC if I had seen it when it originally aired.
I never saw "Joanie loves Chachi", but if it was anything like that episode of Happy Days, then it's pretty obvious why the show didn't make it!
Joanie and Chachi were, like always, great, but the band members were really annoying. Frankly, they were losers, especially the girl. They didn't compliment one another, their image was really not n'sync (no pun intended).
:D

EXACTLY. I mean, this whole episode was about how Chachi needed to stand up to the exec and back his band members. But, the other members SUCKED.
Chachi, just tell Fonzie to shut up. Recording executives are paid to make the right desicion for your band/career. The guy was a professional. He knew what he was doing.
animalcrackers 03-21-2003, 08:37 AM Speaking of the band, if you look at the girl, who played Annette, long enough, doesn't she resemble Al? I know they are not related, but they look alike.

That was always one thing that bothered me about the episode. I mean, I guess I'm supposed to admire what Joanie & Chachi did, standing behind their band, but the whole time I kept thinking they should have just abandoned the band. There's no way they could have made it with those band members, so they should have taken the opportunity while they could.
Joanie Loves Chachi should have had other supporting cast members, like maybe instead of K.C. being rather pointless on Happy Days (IMO) they could have had Crystal Benard on Joanie Loves Chachi or something. They also should have had Jenny on JLC too, since she makes more sense on a show with Joanie.

Actually, yeah. Sort like what CollegeGirl mentioned earlier if had changed the format on Happy days at the end. Take that but apply it to JLC with Jenny being there and kind of have them be the comedy act on the show. I look at the whole thing as another dropped ball by the writers. Why on earth did they create those characters for the band? I'll even concede that Bingo was kind of amusing.. but the other two? No way!
