Hi. This is my first post on here. I am usually on www.Lucytalk.com (http://www.Lucytalk.com) but was told about this one too. Anywhere Lucy is, I will go. Anyway, did any of you go to the convention last week in Burbank? WOW! I got to go into the actual studio where "I Love Lucy" was filmed for the first 2 years, went inside her home on Ogden Drive, inside the house she and Desi lived in in Chatsworth (Desilu Ranch) and LOTS more! Have any of you guys been to this convention? This one was the 6th one with LOTS of attendees! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/kiss.gif
Peace, Love & Lucy~

Hi!

Let me ask ya something. What did the ranch look like? I ask because on another website, they said that other houses had been built up around it and also that it had been greatly affected by the 1994 earthquake.

Wow, you are so lucky! That sounds *so* fun. Were there a lot of people there? Tell us more! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif So is the studio set up in Universal Studios not the real set?

Well, the Desilu Ranch does look a little different than it used to. But when we were inside the house, you can seem some major resemblences! For example, remember all of the mirrors in Lucy's bedroom with the rose wallpaper? Well, those mirrors are still there. And, the huge...long...bay windows in the den? They are still there. The cabinets and some of the tile is original. The Desilu Ranch is still there....it's just been added onto, that's all which makes it kinda' confusing as to which part is which. But, if you've seen pictures....you can tell pretty much. Also, from "A Home Movie" you can see bits too. And, yes, it is allllll built-up around the house now with some houses being very close. You just stand there and imagine what a view that Lucy & Desi had with their 5 acres, chickens, cow, dogs and cats! WOW!
As for the studio..."I Love Lucy" was never filmed at Universal Studios. It started out at "General Services Studios" which is on the corner of Romaine St. and Las Palmas in Hollywood. They filmed the first 2 years here from 1951-1953 and then they moved over to "Motion Picture Center" where they remained throughout the series. It was the most awesome experience to get INSIDE the first studio where they filmed it. I mean, not only on the lot but inside THE soundstage where Lucy said, "Hello Friends, I'm your Vitameatavegamin girl!" I've got pictures of the inside of that, inside her Ogden Drive house, inside of the Chatsworth house and much more if you guys would like to see them. Also have some of me and Lucie Arnaz, me and Fred Ball, me and Desi Jr, me and Frank Gorey and many of Carole Cook. Have you guys seen "A Home Movie"?
Peace, Love & Lucy~

That's so cool!

But maybe someone can fill me in?! How many houses did they have altogether and where where they located?

Lucy and Desi lived mostly in two houses; the one in Chatsworth and 1000 N. Roxbery (sp?) in Beverly Hills. They probably had vacations homes, but those were their two main residences.

Yeah, I know, but you know how they have the Lucy musuem set up at Universal Studios and have a piece of the 'set' behind that glass? I was just wondering if that was really part of the set from some point in time from the show, of if it is just a recreation.

And I'd love to see your pics!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi fellow Lucy fans. First of all, let me answer the question about the houses she owned. When she first moved to Hollywood from Jamestown in 1933, she got a house at 1344 N. Ogden Drive and lived there with DeDe, Grandpa Hunt, Fred Ball and Cleo. Then, when she met Desi in 1940, she got an apartment for about 6 months at 1403 Laurel Avenue. Then, they married and bought the house in Chatsworth (The Desilu Ranch) on 5 acres in 1941 for $14,500! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eek.gif In 1955, they moved to 1000 N. Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills where she lived until she died and of course when they divorced in 1960, Desi moved out. Now, they also had a summer home in Palm Springs on the Thunderbird Golf Course which she left to Gary when she died and his 2nd wife (after Lucy) still lives there with guess who? Lucy's dog, Tinker! Yep, he is still kicking at the ripe old age of 14! See, Lucy had 3 "Tinkers" in a row and the last one was only 2 when she died. Oh, now I've done it. I've forgotten the rest of the questions you guys posted. Oh yeh, YES, they have this convention every year in Burbank and it is absolutely the best time ever! They are saying that this past one (celebrating 50th anniversary of the show) was to be the last http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/crying.gif however, there is rumor from some people that it may NOT be the last one. If you guys want to check it out go to: www.lucyfan.com (http://www.lucyfan.com)
I will be glad to send any of you pictures from Jamestown AND LA. I already have them all scanned, just e-mail me at onlyonelucy@aol.com!
Peace, Love & Lucy~

Thanks!

Is it true that F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in the Laurel Ave. apt. building? I read in the Brady book that he and his girlfriend used to spy on Lucy and Desi Sunday nights when he tried to leave and she didn't want him to.

Yes, he did live above her. We went by those apartments...just to see where they were and they're kinda' cute but old now, of course. Poor Lucy, she sure did have to deal with Desi leaving alot, didn't she? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/crying.gif

Hi there-

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I felt compelled to correct misinformation. The house you visited could not have been the Desilu Ranch as it was razed 20 plus years before you visited. See the following article: lucyfan dot com/stillweek107.html
