why did ABC get the show in 85? IMO, that was the worst thing that happened to the show, when shows switch networks (JAG is an exception), they never get the same treatment they got from the original station.

The show had fallen from it's 80-era heyday, but it was still one of NBC's better loved shows at the time. Or was it just one of NBC's first casualties when they finally hit a goldmine blockbuster with Cosby (even it's lowest season was about the same as the biggest DS season in terms of ratings)?

I always thought ABC should've allowed it to have just one last farewell season. It's a shame at the way they just pulled it off the air that last year without even a farewell episode.

I think mabye 'cause they added "Golden Girls". Also in 1985, there was this show you all probobly have heard of it starred Marla Gibbs, (late of "The Jeffersons", Hal Williams, (late of "Sanford and Son and
"Prvt. Benjamin") and Alaina Reed (late of "Sesame Street.

why did DS move to abc anyway? iff it was in its last season NBC should have kept it iff it was in its last season.

The final season on NBC slipped badly in the ratings and they decided to move to ABC. It's not that unusual nowadays when you think of shows like Family Matters, Step By Step, and more recently JAG... atleast they didn't have a disappointing final episode like the Facts of Life - but an ending would be better than just a regular episode like DS..
