View Full Version : 4 Original NBC Episodes of The Facts of Life With Commercials Vintagetvshows 03-17-2003, 04:14 PM - Nanny Fine 03-17-2003, 10:05 PM  Oy curtis 03-18-2003, 05:55 PM I don't know, is it just me or is there other Sitcom fans on this board that thinks this guy is being greedy? So you taped 3 FOL eps back in the 80's and now you want $50 bucks for them? I'm sorry but get real. I for one think we should help each other's collections out and not try to charge crazy fees in the process. I think we should remember that this site for the most part is for the hobbiest. And we should help one another out without trying to make a quick buck on fellow hobbiest in the process. GrapeJelly 03-18-2003, 06:20 PM Maybe he thinks this is eBay? :p Nanny Fine 03-18-2003, 11:36 PM You can get many of the episodes from the Columbia House video's, all of which are uncut and run about $5 - $10 on eBay. The only thing you are offering are commercials and people also make those available. I think that is insane to ask $50 for 1 tape with 2 hours on it. I have all 4 of those episodes from USA and you can get them from me for about $43 less than what is posted above. They don't have commercials though, original or otherwise. curtis 03-19-2003, 12:15 AM Hey guys, Like the man said he went through a lot of work obtaining these eps. Maybe back in the 80's it wasn't as easy to hit record on your VCR as it is today. Oh and I almost forgot, video tapes were a buck or two more. Give the guy a break, he said he only wants "fair Compensation". $50 for 4 eps, that's only $12.50 per eps. lol GrapeJelly 03-19-2003, 07:35 AM You're not the only one with original 80s recordings, I think is what they're trying to tell you. I have some myself of shows a bit harder to come by than the Facts of Life...like Joanie Loves Chachi, the New Monkees, and Battle of the Network Stars. I think someone here just recently posted that they have the entire run of Perfect Strangers, also original 1980s recordings. I understand the gem you feel you have, but it's just not that uncommon to a longtime collector. If you feel anyone was rude about it, I'll go ahead and be the one to apologize. It's just we are accustomed to people who call themselves hobbiests trying to scalp us and still claim they're not selling actual content, which is illegal you know. :) curtis 03-19-2003, 04:07 PM I'm really not here to argue with you Mr. Vintage, As I said before I think we should try to help one another out with each other's collections without tainting this website into becoming another Ebay. $50 bucks is very high and I think most people would agree. I've helped many people in the past and vice versa many have helped me with my collections. And most of the times if I have nothing that the individual needs they'll still help me, usually charging only the tape price and shipping fees. I feel that everyone should try to keep this a hobby and not a business and try to share our rare and not so rare finds with other hobbiest's. If you want to make this a business Ebay is always there. Mr. Vintage, I think I said all I can about this matter and will not comment about this matter again. I don't want to make this an argument between us. regards, Curtis rickcinelli 03-18-2005, 02:43 PM I HAVE BOUGHT MANY FACTS OF LIFE EPISODES. GRANTED ONLY A FEW TIMES THEY WERE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT FROM YOU SIR, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE SOUND QUALITY IS HORRIBLE. I HAVE BOUGHT ENTIRE SERIES FOR THE SAME PRICE YOU ARE ASKING FOR 3 EPISODES. ON AVERAGE, 3 EPISODES OF A SERIES, NO MATTER HOW RARE, COST ABOUT MAYBE $15 PLUS SHIPPING. WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS FEEDING ON THE OBSESSIONS OF OTHERS WHO NEED THE SHOWS SO BAD, THE ONES WHO ARE WILLING TO PAY ANY PRICE. WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG. I HAVE STATED MY OPINION. LIKE THE OTHERS SAID, WE ARE IN THIS FOR THE HOBBY, NOT FOR THE QUICK MONEY. THINK ABOUT IT!   RICH T-Greg 03-18-2005, 05:49 PM That's a ridiculous price. You can buy new boxed sets for less than that. Those tapes will sit and rot at that price...and I hope they do. |
