Our local station (WYCS - Cable Channel 24) in Louisville, KY shows The Lucy Show weekdays at 12:30pm. I've noticed that in comparing these episodes to the ones I taped off of Nick-at-Nite back in the early 1990's these seem to be very dark or so bright they appear washed out at times and have poor audio. Also, the copyright date has been removed at the end of the closing credits. Are these taken from a different master, or what ? I'm just curious. I've also noticed this same difference with The Andy Griffith Show, and The Beverly Hillbillies. The TVLand versions seem much brighter and cleaner with better audio. Thanks for any input on this.

They probably bought the rights a long time ago, and are using the same masters that they originally got when the first bought the show. Are they using the correct credits for the opening, or are they using mostly the kaleidescope? If the correct credits are being used, then that's a tipoff that they're using old masters.

They use the kaleidescope on all shows, even the B&W ones. That was another difference I forgot about between N@N's version and this one.

Don't you mean kinescope?

No. TLS was shot on film, they never did kinescopes as far as I know. The kaleidescope is one version of the opening credits for the show. There was also an animated one in B&W with stick figures of Lucy and Viv. I only saw that one on N@N years ago.
