I know I do. Every weekday I try to watch. Unfortunately I miss this show now. I wish I could have watched it when it was on network TV.
What happend why did this show fall off the ratings? I like the 5th season. It was good.

I watched it on network tv & enjoyed it. What bugged me was they took it off & never gave it a proper ending. I watch the re-runs every nite here as it comes on every weeknite with 2 episodes. :)

The falloff in the ratings was weird. The show started out with 12mil viewers for the 5th season premiere, then steadily dropped. In the spring, it was drawing no more than 7-8mil viewers for new episodes, something that obviously earned its cancellation.

The whole night was pretty fuc-ed for ABC. "What About Joan" got dumped after two episodes, "Bob Patterson" after 4 or 5, and "Spin City" was going down the same hole as "Dharma" was.

Considering what ABC is now, "D&G" doesn't really fit into that vision, and I think the network knew that last season, which is why it didn't bother to try to ressurrect it.

ABC imploded that season, absolutley imploded.

It was the #1 network in 99 I think, then it started declining till it was #4 in the 01-02 season.

Millionair lost its appeal, and its ratings fell off. Same thing happaned with The Practive and the big sit-coms: D&G, Spin City and Drew. Those three lost anywhere between 25-35% of the viewers that season compared to the previous one.

It was a real shame that D&G ended on such a bad note, only about 7 million watched the last episode. Thats a far cry from a show that at its peak took in over 23 mill, and the previous season was taking in 9 mill on its reruns (and beating Fraiser).

But thats Karma, neh? :)

anyone hear about this show going to the wb last year, when it wasn't cancelled.
that's why at tvtome a new character was made. and it would revolve around Dharma adopting a teenager for season 6.
I would have wanted to see that.
But, oh no. I never will since it's gone.

Yes I did hear about that.

Well, it might have been good and I'm always up for more of my favorite shows and that includes D&G, I'm happy with the 5 seasons we got.

What would have been realy nice was a proper series finale.

Even still, it looks like things ended on a good note. If you have read Chuck's vanity cards then you can see that he was not too happy with his previous works, ie working on Rosanne, Grace Under Fire, etc, but his last vanity card for D&G shows how happy he was with this show and the people involved.

Now, get the show on to DVD! :)

I watch it every now and then in reruns. I agree it deserved a better series finale( as did Spin City). It could have ended with Dharma telling Greg that she was pregnant.

Ohh, thats quite a thought. I think I would have liked the show to end on that note. I think the problem is that they weren't sure if they were going to get that 6th season or not at that point in time.

I believe that last epsiode was when they were trapped in the van and decided at the end that they were going to have a baby..does anyone know what song played on the radio. Greg said something like forest or horace..or something and I have been searching for that song ever since. THANKS!

The song is not mentioned in the show's end credits, as in who wrote it or performed it and such, so I have no idea. Sorry.

Do you happen to have the episode on tape and could note a couple of the lyrics? I am not trying to be troublesome, but I dont know how long it will be till that episode reruns. THANKS!

Ha!

I was figuring out the lyrics when I thought that it might be smart to turn on closed captioning and what do you know, it includes the artist, its Kenny Loggins.

The lyrics are:

People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one
And we've just begun
Think I'm gonna have a son
He'll be as she and me and free as a dove

A quick search comes up with the title as: "Danny’s song"

Mystery solved. :)

If I remember right, Kenny Loggins appeared as himself in one episode and sang that song.

No problem :)

I remember that episode, haven't seen it in a while though.

D&G had quite a number of musical guest stars, I wonder who on the cast or staff had the connections to get all of them.
