View Full Version : The best reason I've ever been blown off...

by a guy. Well I've been around for a while and I've had my share of crappy dates and sucky relationships. I haven't dated in nearly 4 years and just a few weeks ago I had my first date in that many years. Things went great, phone calls followed....he even stopped in at my house one night for a few minutes. Then the phone calls stopped, all contact ceased and I was blown off. Confused? Yeah kinda. Mad? Yes because the dillwad met my child. I've been a single parent the entire time I've had my kid, her father bolted when he heard the word pregnant and hasn't been around since. I've dated rarely and now she's old enough to understand that stuff. I had wanted to put that off (meeting) until I knew that this guy might stick around or not becuase I dont want to be parading guys in and out and around on her - it would only confuse her and make it worse. So she happened to be awake when he stopped that night. She now thinks it is her fault. She thinks that he stopped coming around/calling because he found out about her. That is NOT the truth, I keep telling her that but she's little, she doesn't get it.

I saw his mother today and I found out why he blew me off.

Guess.

Come on, I bet you can't imagine!

Ready???

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

He could not believe how many tapes I had and didn't want to be around that sort of "clutter". My tapes aren't used as tables, bookends, furniature, etc. I have a stack of tapes by my TV stand that I have to edit but the majority of my tapes (like the 900 + tapes I have) are upstairs - he didn't even SEE those. But he decided in that brief time, after getting along so well on the phone with me and on the date, that I was a terrible housekeeper and he couldn't deal with that and he specifically cited to his mother about my tapes. (Does anyone remember the episode of FRIENDS when they were playing football and the Dutch girl picked Chandler who acted like a dork and Joey says "congratulations, you just saved yourself about 6 months of sex!? " I want to say that to this guy ! )

And I thought I had heard 'em all. Really I dont want to be involved with someone who can't accept all of me for me, including my TV taping obsession, something I've had for over 20 years. Taping isn't new to me. But it seems so petty.

And he didn't even have the BALLS to call me and tell me! He just blew me off! How mature is that?! That is mom had to tell me?

It's no wonder I don't date - it was nearly 4 years before i went on this one, I let my guard down and look what happened. It will be a long 4 years until i date again. I swear.

Hmmmpf...

He didn't even get anywhere else in my house - just my living room. I have an entire room in my upstairs that is NOTHING but tapes!!!!!!!!

He also forgets that I work, have no spouse, haven't had a day off in God knows how long - I dont have a lot of time to devote to scrubbing my floors with a toothbrush. Dusting? Don't do it very often because I dont have time. There isn't garbage in my house, there's no cat poop on the floor and my dishes are done. But I DO have tapes in my living room.

The shame! The shock! The horror!

Guys are on my @*&! list tonight.

Maybe he was just looking for a reason and that was his "out"? who knows. I just can't imagine that I'd let something like that get in the way of me wanting to be around someone I had had a good time talking to, etc until that point. I mean we really got along well! If I went to his house and didn't like the picture frames he used for his photo's, I certainly wouldn't just end things.

I wonder what he'd think if you were a dope fiend, had cat poo all over the house, let your daughter run around the house naked (I assume you don't ;) ), conducted satanic rituals in your house, and had roaches crawling on the walls.

He's very immature. Be glad that you aren't married to him! I know it hurts now but you and your daughter deserve much better than that!:(

IT's not even that it hurts because nothing really happened, we just talked a LOT on the phone and seemed to have gotten along well. It's the whole principle of the thing I think, that my daughter got involved, that he didn't even TELL me what was going on, that it was for something like TAPES in my living room. I mean really.

He'd have keeled on the spot if he would have seen my room upstairs.
