What was Thomas Magnum's rank in the Navy? I'm thinking he was a Lieutenant because in the opening credits it shows him wearing his uniform. Does anyone have a picture from the opening credits? Thanks.

All I remember was that early on he was a Navy SEAL then a Naval Intelligence officer.

I think he was a Lt. in some of the flashbacks, left the Navy as a Lt. Cmdr, and rejoined the Navy (last ep) as a Cmdr.

I am far from sure about this, so don't get too mad if some of this turns out to be wrong - it has been many years since I was able to watch the show regularly. :)

In the second season, in "Memories are Forever", he gets recalled into the navy as a Lieutenant Commander to go testify in Washington DC. But Magnum is suspicious, asking "why would they promote me".
