Before I saw this episode, I saw that Sherman Hemsley and Mike Evans from the Jeffersons made a guest appearance in this episode. But from what I saw last night, George and Lionel were at their apt in manhattan instead of the Bunkers House in Queens which brings me to my first question. How were Sherman Hemsley and Mike Evans guest stars in this episode if they were never on the All in the Family Set? I always thought that a guest star meant that a person made a guest appearance on the set. Anyone Agree? Also how did George Jefferson rent a house from Manhattan to Mike without paperwork being filled out?

George and Lionel Jefferson (Hemsley and Evans) were not really guest stars on this episode (They only "appear" on this episode in phone conversations). The guest stars included: Billy Halop (Bert Munson), Burt Mustin (old man Quigley), Betty Garrett (Irene Lorenzo), and Bob Hastings (Kelsey the bartender). Bill Halop's character (Munson) brings over the Black jockey with lantern statue as a gift to celebrate Archie and Edith now owning their home outright (mortgage burning celebration). Right? At any rate I noticed what you noticed ... The various web sites with the episode listings/guides with the guest star credits are not 100% accurate!

If you make an appearance on another show that you are not a regular on, you are a guest star. Period. It does not matter whether you actually appear on their set or not. In reality the appearance by George and Lionel was more like a cameo, but remember by this time they were already busy with their own series so I guess that is all they could get, but it still was effective.

Also, we can reasonably be certain that George and Mike met at a later date (off screen) to sign the papers to rent the house. After all, how did Mike get the key to get in the house?!
