Ok, I'm probably just a person with too much time on his hands to think about stuff like this-but the writers of the show couldn't seem to make up their minds. Was George Reeves playing himself, or Superman? Don't get me wrong though- I liked this episode, I just thought it was strange.

George was playing himself as "Superman". Lucy and Ricky knew he was an actor but little Ricky and his friends knew him only as Superman.

The Arnazes knew that a lot of children watched ILL, and they didn't want to ruin the illusion of Superman by calling the actor by name on the show. George Reeves isn't even billed on the show. I've always thought this was strange as well.
