Dear Friends,

I have a question. I so desperately want to see a specific segment from UM...but I suspect that I may wait forever and a day to see it again.

One day, approximately a year ago, I was watching Unsolved Mysteries. I turned down the volume on the TV set, because I was engaged in a phone call. I saw images which I will describe to you below.

Apparently, this segment which I bore witness to was about a young model. She was incredibly beautiful. She had radiant blonde hair, and I think that she may have had blue eyes. I was told by an acquaintance that the young lady might have been named Kimberly Pandelios????????

Here is a synopsis of the segment. Again, the television was turned down, so I could not hear what was happening- I could only see the images on the screen.

This elegant young lady was driving alongside a mountain out West somewhere. Maybe it was California. She stopped on the side of the highway, and was apparently taken by force by a man with a gun.

Later on, it showed this young man driving a Volkswagen Bug in the hills and mountain terrain. He suddenly came upon this beautiful young blonde lady, and she appeared to stay silent- but something seemed wrong. She was eerily silent. All of a sudden, these men wearing black clothes ran up to the young man in the VW Beetle and may have threatened him- I could not see the face of the individual who was standing threateningly at the driver's side door- it only showed the bottom half of his face. All of the men appeared unkept and unclean. Were they bikers? Maybe fugitives????

Does this episode ring a bell? Please, in the event that it does and you know that episode, please tell me all that you can about this story and who the young lady was in the story- and what the outcome was (if it is known). Thank you.

Truly Yours,

EyesoftheNile

I remember the case you're talking about. It's been a long time since I saw that segment and I don't know if there have been any updates. At one time, authorities thought Charles Rathbun might have had something to do with Kimberly's disappearance. Rathbun was a fairly well known photographer who was convicted of murdering model Linda Sobek during a photo shoot. He claimed it was an accident but there is no way it could have happened like he said. The Sobek case has been profiled on A&E's "City Confidential" and the "E True Hollywood Story."

Yes, the model's name was Kimberly Pandelios. Her body was found about a year later in the woods. I don't think anyone has ever officially been arrested but here is an article which discusses how authorities think Charles Rathburn may be involved. www.members.aol.com/romuluspd/unsolved.htm

Also, I have this episode on one of my many Unsolved Mysteries tapes, email me if you're interested.:)

Dear Friends,

Thank you for responding. Do you know about the kidnappers? Those dirty hippies who took her at gunpoint? Was one of them believed to be that guy who murdered that other model lady???

Thanks.

Dear Crystal Dawn,

Hello and thank you for the offer. I am hoping actually to start videotaping episodes for myself soon! I hope that I can end up getting this specific one on Kim Pandelios....but If I cannot, I will keep you in mind! Thanks again.

I also remember seeing this case a few times. I know her body was found about a year after she disappeared, but I also remember hearing on the broadcast that she was quite probably killed the same day the guy drove into the camp where she was being held.

Yeah, I too have heard Charles Rathbun's name thrown around as possible having been her killer. I believe in the book about the murder of Linda Sobek it touches on the possible link.
