I haven't read the book but I heard it was good and controversial. Do you think it would be motion picture material?

View Full Version : Do you think Catcher in the Rye would make a good movie? Brian 03-10-2003, 01:04 AM I haven't read the book but I heard it was good and controversial. Do you think it would be motion picture material? Kitt 03-10-2003, 10:16 AM I would think that it would make an excellent movie. I'm only guessing here, but I would bet that JD Salinger has been courted several times over the years without success. He is what you might call an eccentic. He probably hasn't and won't allow the rights to the story to be used for a movie. It's hard to imagine him putting himself in the position of story consultant, or allowing the movie to be made without his consultation. Chocoholic 03-10-2003, 06:16 PM I think it would make a great movie. I love the book. Brian 03-11-2003, 01:46 AM Originally posted by Kitt I would think that it would make an excellent movie. CITR was his only novel. laceyinthesky 03-11-2003, 08:59 PM I think it's a really good book, but I don't think I'd like to see it made into a movie. I don't know about everyone else, but it really annoys me when someone thinks they know everything about a book when they've never read it, only seen the movie. Brian 03-11-2003, 10:00 PM In actuality, I have read the book but only bits and pieces of it. I read it in summer school a few years back but I missed most of it because I spent a week in Colorado. I wouldn't say I have read it. |
