What bands do you think are better live? I hate it when you like a band, then see them live, and they are suck.
-I think Aerosmith, Hot Hot Heat, Rancid, No Doubt, and Red Hot Chili Peppers are...

Here are some of the bands I've seen live and my opinion:
REM - this was 1984, and they were pretty bad in my opinion.
U2 - I've seen them a few times, better in arenas than in stadiums. The Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree shows were pretty amazing.
The Cult - Terrible every time I saw them.
Metallica - Excellent the two tours I saw them (And Justice and Black Album).
David Bowie - sucked both stadium shows I saw (different tours). I don't know what was wrong.
Paul McCartney - Excellent at the Vet and Giants Stadim- 2 different tours.
Eric Clapton - Went with a bunch of friends to this show at Shea Stadium and got separated. Myself and one friend ended up with all the beer and the the other car had the all the food. Incomplete grade due to beer as meal and beverage.
Bryan Ferry - Fantastic show.
Frank Zappa - Excellent at both shows I saw.
The Grateful Dead - varied performaces. atmosphere worth the price of admission.
The Rolling Stones - I thought they blew, lazy playing and vocals and Mick more concerned with running around than actually singing.
Kiss - Pretty good on the Psycho Circus tour, but I saw these guys at Madison Square Garden in 1977 when I was a kid (my cousins took me) and that was pure heaven.
The Pretenders - in 1984. Really good, but Chrissy Hynde was in a weird mood and told people to F off a bunch of times.
P.I.L - John Lydon did a Chrissy Hynde with the F off but they were great.
Bruce Springsteen - Good show but it was without the E-Street Band.
Korn - Impersonal and cold show. They could have given a crap and the music sounded like it was taped.
The Replacements - Saw them in Amsterdam, fantastic- but considering it was Amsterdam I think even Vanilla Ice would have been at least ok. ;)
The Cure - Great in 1985 (Head on the Door), not as great a couple years later (Kiss Me).
Elton John - ok. once with Clapton and once with Billy Joel.
Billy Joel - he was drunk and it was obvious so he was sloppy.
Ben Folds Five - Excellent every time.
The Jayhawks - see Ben Folds
Faith No More - Fast Lane in Asbury Park, NJ, a tiny place. It was unbelievable.
Barenaked Ladies - Better on the smaller venues - I actually saw them at the Bottom Line in NYC back in 1994, one of the best shows I ever saw. When they moved to arenas they were just ok.
Roger Waters - MSG - Awesome, one of the best.
That's enough for now.

No one, really. I don't like live music, no matter who plays it.

I've never seen them live either (duh) but so many people have said that the Unplugged show was amazing, so I, of course, will agree.
