View Full Version : What are some of the names of nightclubs and bars you go to? peter may 03-08-2003, 07:46 PM Mine are, Time & Envy, Vivid & Elite, Yates, colley rowe pub, Jaks what are yours Mossopp 03-08-2003, 07:56 PM I don't go to a lot of clubs or bars - it's not really my thing. Straight pubs depress me and cos I live in such a crappy, small-minded town there are no gay bars so I have nowhere to go. If I am out in Helensburgh then I'll go to the Ardencaple cos it's fairly quiet and I can get a few games of pool or darts going on. The Clyde Bar is ok in the afternoon but it's too crowded at night. The Commodore is ok as long as you stay in the bar and don't go into the restaurant area. Everywhere else in town is $h!t. There are loads of cool gay bars and clubs in Glasgow but I never get a chance to go to them cos my f*cking mother is always checking up on me! I'm going to Aberdeen soon to stay with my friend who's also gay - she's gonna take me to all the gay clubs there so that'll be cool! :D peter may 03-08-2003, 07:57 PM what do u mean, she's checking up on you? Hollow 03-08-2003, 08:02 PM There aint places to party in my gay city :( Mossopp 03-08-2003, 08:04 PM Originally posted by peter may what do u mean, she's checking up on you? She always wants to know where I am, who I'm with and what I'm doing. She's impossible! I told her I was going out to the clubs in the city with my friend last month and she actually started crying!! My bloody mother started crying just cos I was going clubbing!! How insane is that????!!!! To be honest, I think my mother suspects that I'm gay (to be fair, it is kind of obvious) and she's worried that I'm out there sleeping with random women. She's just too overprotective. I'm nearly 21 - she needs to let me be an adult and stop treating me like I'm 12 years old!! Otherwise, I'd be out every night. :D Kay Scarpetta 03-08-2003, 10:19 PM "People"...... have taken me to bars before. I'm not saying who though cause I don't wanna screw 'em seeing as how I'm only 14. Anyway... yeah there's a crapload of bars and pubs in Springfield. One of the bset though is the Blarney Stone.. it's where all the ol' Irishers who live on Hungry Hill go. So basically I walk in and know everyone. Downtown there are strip bars, gay bars, any kind of bars you want. There are also clubs. The Hot Club, Coconut's, The Hippodrome... The Hippodrome has 17 and under nights. That's always worth going to..... people smoking pot in the corners and people having sex under the tables  -*Leah*- 03-08-2003, 10:25 PM NONE ! I am no where near 21! JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 03-08-2003, 10:32 PM I go to the Blind Horse Saloon alot... a bunch of drunks rednecks going crazy at the pool tables, very funny stuff (haha.. welcome to South Carolina) and I go to a few under ground places.. but I really don't do the whole party/club thing.... like someone else said, it's just not my thing.. i'm a big more conservative I suppose. White_Daisy 03-09-2003, 12:48 AM CBGB's Brian 03-09-2003, 12:51 AM I can't go to those places until November 27, 2006. White_Daisy 03-09-2003, 12:54 AM Originally posted by BJL I can't go to those places until November 27, 2006. Well, you're not allowed to go legally. But who said you ever had to follow the law?:D Nah, the only one I frequent (read: once a month, maybe) is CBGB's and they let underage kids in if they go nowhere near a bar. Brian 03-09-2003, 12:56 AM Ever hear of Dave & Busters? I went to one in Colorado and that is a great place. It has a huge arcade and playplace but it also had a bar, so I had to stay with my father the whole time. TJL 03-09-2003, 01:21 AM Originally posted by JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo a bunch of drunks rednecks going crazy at the pool tables, very funny stuff (haha.. welcome to South Carolina) Been to South Carolina, drank there. Boy oh boy what a great topic! I bet some of you are wondering when this lush was going to chime in on this one. Actually the one to ask about this is my roomie, who knows just about every bar in the city. Someday we're going to sit down and write a book. Lets see, some of my regular places... The GAF (48th bet. 9th and 10th) Great bar, always check in there when I'm out. Tell Kieron the owner I sent you. Scruffy Duffy's (8th avenue bet. 46th and 47th) Been a reg there for years. Pool table, jukebox, darts in the back Pat Hughes is the owner, great guy. Some great bartenders there too, Including Triona, a gorgeous Irish lass. My roommate is in love with her. The Corner Bistro (8th ave and Jane Street) Probably my favorite bar in NYC. The burgers there are the best in the city. Plus, two dollar McSorley drafts. Milady's (corner of Prince and Thompson) great bar smack in the middle of the village. Played pool there a lot. Kim is a bartender there. The most beautiful woman in New York City. I will marry her someday! Other places of note: Barrow Bar (on Barrow street) great dive bar White Horse Tavern (one of the oldest bars in NYC) Great in the summertime, they have tables outside. Tortilla Flats (on Washingtom Street in the meatpacking district) Best Margaritas in the city. I've gotten smashed there a lot. Good mexican food too. Great place for bachelorette parties. Gets a bit crowded though. Pioneer - Huge place downtown. lots of fun. Owner is a nice guy. Puck Fair - Great Irish bar off Houston Street across from the Puck Building. Then there's The Collins bar, Joshua Tree, Deacon Brody's, Rudy's, Mercury Bar, Druids, Belleview, The Telephone Bar, Scratcher, The Boat Basin, The Eastside GAF, The Liquor Store... There are plenty of others, but I kinda forget the names. I don't have a drinking problem, I just get around. ;) TJL 03-09-2003, 08:57 PM Oh, I forgot about these... No Moore Antarctica No Idea The Village Idiot Blind Tiger Ale House Spring Lounge Sweet And Vicious 7th And B Kevin St. James Coppersmiths Otis Revolution Red Rock West Water Street Bar (that's in Brooklyn) Kettle Of Fish Sidewalk Cafe And some place On Mulberry street with an Italian name. ;) XoVanillaRain90oX 03-09-2003, 09:06 PM Originally posted by leah02_06 NONE ! I am no where near 21! lol, same here. peter may 03-10-2003, 01:25 PM what are the bars like in NYC. The bars in london are great. TJL you seem the most experienced in answering the question:) TJL 03-15-2003, 10:52 AM Let's see... The Bars in NYC stay open to 4 A.M. If that's not a good reason to vist NYC, I dont know what is. The bars I frequent the most have a "pub" kind of feel to them. Most of them are owned and staffed by Irish lads. You can pretty much find any type of bar here in NYC. There are the pubs, the American type bars (sometimes refered to as sporst bars) with pool tables and food, the dive bars, club bars with DJs and dancing, lounge type bars with couches and chairs. There are rowdy bars like Hog and Hefers or Coyote Ugly hich feature bar girls dancing on tables, biker bars, strip bars, gay bars, tapas bars, we got it all! You should really try to stop by. Krystal Lake 03-15-2003, 03:20 PM The Blue Oyster. :o |
