Dear Lucy-Desi Fans:
I just spoke with Frank Gorey, Lucille Ball's butler and driver. He asked me to extend a big "thank you" to everyone that visited Jamestown during Lucy-Desi Days 2001.
He too visited Jamestown during the festival and told me that he really enjoyed his stay and his visits with the many fans.
He mentioned one specific encounter with a visitor who surprised him with a gift of chocolate truffles.
I'd like to personally thank all of the fans and Museum supporters that traveled here to support the festival last month. This year we had visitors from 24 states, 3 Canadian provinces, and one Lucy-Desi fan from Turkey!
What's next? We're making plans to welcome both of Lucy and Desi's children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. to Jamestown for "Lucille Ball's Birthday Celebration" from August 3-5. Desi's fellow band members, Ricci Martin and Billy Hinsche, will also be with us for a special evening on stage at the Reg Lenna Civic Center in downtown Jamestown.
We're also excited about the return of "Young & The Restless" star, Melody Thomas Scott (who'll be hosting a special Authors Seminar and "I Love Lucy" Trivia Contest)...and the "Ricochet Romance Ladies," Teensy & Weensy, will also be on hand for a special musical evening on Friday, August 3.
