~Chapter One~

Jo Bonner and Rick Bonner have been married for about two years and they have a one and a half-year-old son named Matt.
“Jo?” Rick said as he walked into the house and into Matt’s room. In there he finds Jo and Matt both asleep in Jo’s rocking chair. So Rick picks up Matt and puts him in his crib and then he gently picks up Jo and carries her to their room and lays her down
“Rick, what time is it?” Jo asked as she woke up when Rick laid her down.
“Time for me to get dinner started.” Rick said.
“It’s that late!” Jo said shocked.
“Yea, just rest. You need to relax.” Rick said.
“I got a doctor appointment back home at 6.” Jo said.
“Home. Like in the Bronx?” Rick said uncertain.
“Yea where else would home be?” Jo said as she gets up and gets dressed.
“Do you want a ride or something?” Rick asked.
“I think I can make it Rick. What’s wrong with you anyway. It’s like you don’t want me to go.” Jo said.
“I don’t want you to go by yourself!” Rick said.
“Rick I grew up there I can handle it.” Jo said getting fed up.
“Okay I give up!” Rick said.
“Thanks Rick. Be back later.” Jo said as she grabs the keys to her bike and heads out.
Rick runs over to the window and watches her leave. He was still upset that he let her go alone.

Hey ya'll sorry I haven't posted I just got back from Beta Convention but here's Chapters 2,3 & 4 Enjoy!



~Chapter Two~
At the doctor office Jo is sitting and waiting for a nurse to come get her. She is still wondering why Rick didn’t like the fact of her coming back home alone.
“Jo!” The nurse says.
“Jessie! You’re a nurse?” Jo said shocked.
“Yea I have been for six months. What about you?” Jessie asked.
“Well I’m a lawyer have been for three years and I’m a mom.” Jo said.
“That’s great. How are things with Rick?” Jessie asked.
“Fine I think.” Jo said.
“What’s wrong?” Jessie asked.
“I don’t really know. When I told him I had a doctor appointment today back home he started to freak out and didn’t want me to come back by myself.” Jo says still confused by what happened back at her house. “It’s strange he’s never worried like this.”
“Lets go in the back and talk while I work.” Jessie suggested while trying to figure out why Rick was acting weird.
“Okay,” Jo says as she follows Jessie into the back.

~Chapter Three~

In one of the back rooms Jo and Jessie are talking when Jo’s doctor comes in.
“I thought you’ve left?” The doctor said.
“I was just leaving. Talk to you later Jo.” Jessie says as she heads out.
“See you Jessie.” Jo says as she laughs at Jessie.
“So how are you doing Jo?” The doctor said.
“Good. Everything is going good.” Jo said.
“How is the baby?” The doctor asked.
“He’s doing good. Jo said.
“Ok let’s get down to work. What are you hear for?” The doctor asked.
“Just my yearly checkup.” Jo says.
“Oh ok, well we’re going to run some tests and then you’ll be free to go.” He says.
“Ok.” She says. “Let’s get started.”
“Ok.” He says and starts with the tests. “I’ll be right back with the results.” He goes into another room.
Jo sits and waits not expecting any bad news. Even though the test results show a different agenda. Jo could tell something was wrong by the expression on his face when he comes back.
“Uh, what’s wrong?” Jo said.
“Well there is no good news. It’s all bad.” He said.
“Just tell me and get it over with.” Jo said.
“Well you have leukemia.” He said.
“What!” Jo looks down as someone hangs his or her head in shame. “How could this happen? Um, how long do I have to live?
“I can’t determine that. You have to go to Doctors Park on 129th street.” He told her wanting to help and feeling sorry for her. He’s been her doctor since she was five and he hated to see the results that they got.
“I’ll swing by on the way home.” Jo said. “ I’m scared. I can’t tell Rick. I just can’t it would kill us he’d hate me.”
“Jo, if he loves you he’ll help you through this.” He said.
“Thanks I better head out.” Jo says as she leaves.
By the time she get s back to the waiting room to get her coat she has tears running down her face and Jessie sees her and Jo tells her everything that happened.
“Jo I’m so sorry, but are you sure you have leukemia?” Jessie says shocked.
“It’s true. I got to go Jessie see you later.” Jo says as she grabs her coat and leaves.
“Oh my God.” Jessie says in shock still. “My best-friend has leukemia.”

~Chapter Four~

On her way home Jo swings by the Doctors Park place and sees if they can work her in.
“Hi I need to make a appointment to get some test run.” Jo said.
“Ok, I think we can get you Thursday at 12 p.m. is that a good time?” The receptionist asked.
“No not really could you have something past 3. I have to have someone at home to watch my son and my husband gets home at 3.” Jo said.
“Uh we got an opening at 5.” She said.
“That will work.” Jo said.
“Okay see you then.” The receptionist said.

~Chapter Five~

When Jo gets home it’s around 9 and her face is stained from tears and she still has tears running down her face.
“Jo, sweetie what’s wrong?” Rick said as he sees her walk in with tears running down her face.
“ Rick,” Jo starts to say but can’t finish.
“Jo don’t say a word.” Rick says cutting her off.
“Rick, will you listen to me?” Jo said.
“Sorry sweetie did you say something?” Rick said as he looked at Jo with a big smile on his face.
“Rick I’m serious! I don’t feel like messing around.” Jo yelled and with that Rick saw that she was serious.
“What’s wrong?” Rick said.
“I, um well… Rick I um…” Jo said stuttering.
“Jo just tell me how bad can it be?” Rick said.
“I have leukemia.” Jo said.
“What? That’s bad. Uh Jo excuse me I got to go for a walk
I, I need to think.” Rick said as he headed for the door.
“Rick!” Jo yelled running after him as he was trying to leave. She grabs his arm and says, “Rick wait. We need to talk.”
“We will when I get back. Look Jo I don’t ask to be alone to often but know just please give me some time to myself. Can you do that?” He asked.
“Yea, sure fine.” Jo said and then she hears Matt start crying. “I’m going to go check on Matt.” Leaves the room and Rick sees a tear run down her cheek but is to stubborn to go after her and try to comfort her that he just heads out the door.
After he leaves and Jo checks on Matt and warms him up a bottle and then she digs through the Rolodex and finds a name. A name of an old friend she hasn’t called or heard from since she left Peakskill. She had to call Blair and tell her. So she finally sees Blair’s name on a card and hopes that she hasn’t moved out of the old house in the past few year. So Jo dials and it goes through and starts ringing.
“Hello?” A familiar voice said. That voice was Natalie and Jo recognized it right off.
“Nat?” Jo said.
“Yep.” Natalie said having no clue whom is one the other line.
“Nat do you know who this is?” Jo said getting ticked that a girl she lived with for eight years doesn’t recognize her voice then she realizes it’s because she is crying.
“Uh no sorry but I’m clueless.” Natalie said.
“It’s Jo you know I lived with you for eight years.” Jo said trying to make Nat feel stupid and she knows it’s working.
“Oh my God Jo I didn’t recognize your voice. How have you been? How’s Rick?” Natalie said.
“He’s good and I could be better. Put Blair on.”
“Uh she doesn’t live here she and Casey got married.” Natalie said shocked that Jo didn’t know.
“Do you have her number I really need to talk to here.” Jo said.
“Yea,” Natalie says then gives her the number. “I hope you can reach her.”
“Thanks Nat. Oh anyway since Blair left whose still there?” Jo asked.
“It’s me Tootie and Mrs. G.” Nat said.
“Mrs. G’s there!” Jo said shocked.
“Yea,” Nat said.
“Would you mind I drive over there and see you all?” Jo asked.
“Yea I’ll call Blair and tell her your coming.” Nat said.
“Thanks bye see you in about thirty minutes.” Jo said and hangs up.
“Hey Matt do you want to go for a ride?” Jo asked as she picked up his diaper bag then picks him up and grabs a blanket. Before she leaves she quickly writes Rick a note and she plans to meet him on the road. “Let’s go.” Jo said as they leave.

~Chapter Six~

When Jo and Matt arrives at her old house she isn’t surprised that the outside hasn’t changed a bit. When she rings the doorbell she was relieved to see that Mrs. G. had opened the door.
“Jo! Nice to see you how long has it been?” Mrs. G. asked.
“Way too long. It’s nice to see you to Mrs. G.” Sits the diaper bag down and hugs Mrs. G.
“When did this one come along?” Mrs. G. asked referring to Matt.
“About a year and a half ago. His name is Matt.” Jo said smiling at Matt. “Maybe I can get a load off my mind there’s so much going on.” Jo said. “That’s why I decided to come over instead of over the phone.”
“Jo what’s wrong?” Mrs. G asked concerned.
“Well something bad happened today.” Jo said having trouble holding Matt up. “Honey I’m gonna have to put you down pretty soon.”
“Well come on in. Sit down and relax. Blair should be here anytime and you can tell all of us at once.” Mrs. G said.
“Thanks, I had no clue Blair and Casey got married. Last I heard before I got married Casey didn’t want to because it was two much of a commitment.” Jo said as she sat down and put Matt on her lap.
“Money?” Matt said trying to talk for the first time.
Jo looks down at him and smiles. “That’s right sweetie.” Jo looks up at Mrs. G. “That’s the first word out of him.”
“Is that the first time ever or the first word he’s been able to say?” Mrs. G. asked.
“His first time speaking ever.” Jo said smiling.
“It’s amazing isn’t it?” Mrs. G. said. “Hearing their first words.”
“Yea it is.” Jo replied as a tear runs down her face. As she said that there was a knock on the door and Blair comes in.
“Ok, I’m hear what’s the big emergency. Jo!” Blair said as she runs over to the couch and hugs Jo. “Are you babysitting?”
“Yea I’m babysitting my own son.” Jo said.
“You got to be kidding. You’re a mom?” Blair said.
“Money.” Matt said again as he tries to wrap his arms around Jo’s neck.
“Ok Matt you’re choking mommy.” Jo said as she gets Matt to get off of her neck.
“You know I haven’t heard from you in two years not even on my birthday!” Blair said.
“I haven’t heard from you either.” Jo said.
“Well, I’m a bit more important then you are.” Blair said.
“Don’t get me started Blair!” Jo said.
“You haven’t changed a bit your still well you.” Blair said.
“Neither have you, you’re still a barrel of blonde will you ever go with your natural color?” Jo said.
“You don’t even know my natural color!” Blair said.
“Wanna bet. Its…” Jo said but Blair cuts her off.
“Ok why did you want me to come Mrs. Garrett?” Blair said.
“Blair there’s something wrong with Jo.” Mrs. G said.
“Well I knew that. I’ve always known that. Since the day she walked into the Eastland cafeteria in her motorcycle helmet.” Blair said.
“Blair don’t start with me!” Jo said.
“Oh, how about I finish with you!” Blair jumps up and heads towards her.
“Mrs. G!” Jo yelled as she wraps her arms protectively around Matt.
“Blair hold it!” Mrs. G yelled.
“Just take Matt and get him out of the room. This could get ugly.”
“No there will be now bloodshed in the living room. Plus Jo what’s wrong?”
“She’s jealous of me that’s what. She always has been and always will be!” Blair said.
“That’s not it! I have leukemia! Matt let’s go.” Jo said as she runs out caring Matt in one arm and his diaper bag on the other shoulder.

Here's Chapter 7-10

~Chapter Seven~

When Jo got home around 11 she quietly went in with Matt asleep on her shoulder. She took him into his room then went to her room where she found Rick waiting for her.
“How was it?” Rick said.
“I don’t know. Right when Blair got there we started fighting and I got to were I told them then me and Matt ran out” Jo said.
“Change into your pajamas then come over here and we’ll talk about this.” Rick said.
“Ok,” Jo said as she changes clothes. “Rick, are you mad at me?”
“No, not at all. I was just shocked when you told me. We’ll get through this.” Rick said.
Jo throws her dirty clothes in the hamper and goes over and craws in bed beside Rick. “How?”
“I don’t know. We’ll take it a day at a time.” Rick said.
“You not tagging along to the doctor appointments.” Jo said.
“Wouldn’t think of it. Except…” Rick said but Jo cuts him off.
“No exceptions.” Jo said.
“Ok.” Rick said.
“I’m so scared Rick.” Jo says as she buries her face in his chest and cries.
“It’s going to be ok. I’m here for you.” Rick said as she wraps his arms around her. She falls asleep in his arms and he is too tired to move and he doesn’t want to wake Jo. So he just falls asleep.

~Chapter Eight~

The next morning Rick wakes up before Jo does and for at least twenty minutes he sits there thinking. Once or twice he thinks about getting up and getting some ice for his neck but he doesn’t. When his neck has finally given him enough trouble around eight thirty he hears something he’s never heard before.
“Money!” Matt yelled.
“Jo, did you hear that?” Rick said shocked.
“Hear what?” Jo said sleepily.
“Matt.” Rick said.
“What’d he do?” Jo said.
“He said money.” Rick said confused.
“That’s me. Be right back.” Jo said as she left with Rick a little confused.
When she comes back Rick asked her a question.
“Jo, is that the first time he’s called your name?” Rick said.
“No, he started at Mrs. G’s house yesterday. I forgot to tell you last night because I had a lot on my mind. At least you got to hear his first word before he picked up another one. Just don’t ask me how he got money out of mommy.” Jo said.
“Oh, ok. You hungry?” Rick asked.
“Yea, a little.” Jo said.
“Well do you want pancakes?” Rick said.
“Umm, I can ever turn down some of those even though they’re great. You’re going to get me as fat as a hog!” Jo said.
“You won’t get fat don’t worry.” Rick said.
“I always worry didn’t you know that?” Jo said.
“Yea you’re a trouble maker too.” Rick said. “You were a little devil back at Eastland.”
“Some habits are hard to break.” Jo said sarcastically
“You and Blair were always at it.” Rick said. “So your guys fight last night couldn’t have been anything new.”
“She scared me last night she really wanted to hurt me. God I bet when I left she started jumping for joy after I told her what was wrong I remember our college graduation…”

~Chapter Nine~

Goes back in time to their college graduation Jo is telling Rick something in the future as we go back in time to rehearsal.
“I can remember our college graduation I thought she had grown up. She was acting mature that day and she had been for awhile I never thought what happened last night would ever happen.” Jo said.
Now time is back in the past at college graduation rehearsal. Rick graduated the year before Jo but since she is his girlfriend he comes to the real graduation for her. She went to his. Plus she’s making a really big speech.
“Hey Jo its finally time.” Blair said.
“Yea, well I’m thrilled, finally out of college and on my way out of boring old Peakskill.” Says Jo.
“As rehearsal went on I kept being reminded how stressful it was all going to be. Right when I walked in Miss Edwards asked how my speech was coming. I was so stressed and then after that I remember you, Blair and Ryan
decided to treat me to a few drinks. So after that you three took me to the Chugalug. I don’t remember how many drinks I had but I was probably as drunk as I’ve ever been in my entire life. And then all that happened that night and then along came Matt. I mean I loved you and I didn’t agree to marry you for the baby’s sake. I know that if you ask anyone of our friends from that year they’ll say that’s the reason but you know its not. And you know that just after that night at the Chugalug Bar I think I said something to Blair I didn’t mean and I wasn’t in my right mind and I think that’s what sparked it up with Blair.” Jo said as the screen fades back to the future.

~Chapter Ten~
“Wow, I can’t believe you remember all that. But I do remember what you did to Blair. All of our friends were there as well as everyone else over 18 in town. And you did have too many drinks and you said Blair was easy and you and her got into it and everyone believed you, after that things got a little crazy and I had to drag you out of there. I don’t know how long it took me to clean the truck after that. Somehow you got puck on the ceiling! I still can’t figure out how you did that.” Rick said.
“I was such a mess.” Jo said.
“Let me say what happened after that. Stuff that you had too bad of a hang over to ever realize. You barely got over that in time for graduation. But during that all the older guys were trying to prove you were right.” Rick said.
“You’ve said enough I can’t believe this happened. I, I just don’t know what to do. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen no wonder why I hadn’t heard from her since we got married. I was a crummy friend. I got to get cleaned up I need to go by Blair’s house then I got a doctor appointment.” Jo said.
“Okay. What about breakfast?” Rick asked.
“I’ll pass” Jo said as she heads towards the bathroom.
“Alright.” He says as he worries about Blair and worries about Jo even more.

Ok I GUESS I'll put you all out of you misery (lol prolly not) here'a Chapters 11-15. I'll warn you it's kinda long.

~Chapter Eleven~

As she’s on he way to Blair’s she keeps running through her apology through her head. Wanting to make sure things went perfectly.
When she got there she was nervous because she didn’t know how Blair was going to react. However Casey answers the door.
“Jo! Is that you? Wow, you’ve changed a lot.”
“Not that much.” Jo said.
“Yea she’s still the same old slutty Jo who tells a huge lie about the person everyone thought was her best friend and the girl thought so too.” Blair said as she appeared out of the corner.’
“Actually Blair that’s what I came to talk to you about.” Jo said.
“Well I think I’ll leave you two alone. Love ya Blair nice to see you again Jo.” Casey said as he left.
“See ya Casey.” Jo said. “Do you mind if I come in?” She looks at Blair as she says that.
“Sure I guess. I just got one question why do you wanna talk about that night? It was bad enough when it happened and you didn’t try to stop yourself. And when Ryan didn’t try to stop you. That really hurt me Jo.” Blair said.
“I’m really sorry Blair. Rick and I got talking today and well he reminded me of what I said that night and it hurt me hearing what I said about you. I know that night I didn’t act like it but I always thought of you as my best friend. Well that is when I’m not drunk or anything.” Jo said.
“Thank you so much for the apology and I forgive you. Since you told Mrs. Garrett and me about having leukemia I spent all night thinking how awful I’ve acted towards you.” Blair started to admit.
“You never talked behind my back to my face.” Jo said.
“No, you’re right about that.” Blair said and they both laughed.
“Well I better go I have a doctor appointment back at home.” Jo said.
“Ok.” Blair said.
“Um. You don’t know how hard this is to ask you but will you come. I don’t know if I can go in there alone.” Jo said.
“Why didn’t you ask Rick?” Blair asked.
“It’s Rick you know he’ll freak out.” Jo said.
“You got a point.” Blair said and they both laugh. “Of course I’ll come. What’s it for?”
“To see how long I have to live.” Jo says after she stops laughing and becomes serious.
“Oh, well we better get going. You drive.” Blair said.
“You’re letting me drive your car? Wow, this should be on the 6 o’clock news.” Jo said sarcastically.
“No we’re taking your bike. You still carry an extra helmet don’t you?” Blair said.
“Yea I always do.” Jo said.
“Let’s just go. Blair said.
“You can’t be as nervous as I am.” Jo said as she grabs her keys and Blair follows her out.

~Chapter Twelve~

On the road Jo is heading towards the Bronx it has been quiet for thirty minutes and Jo is relieved. She wanted time to think but in a little while Jo needs something to bring her back to life. When a deer jumped out in the road Jo didn’t see it. Blair screamed and Jo quickly tried to turn her bile but she hit the deer and the deer hit the front of the bike and Jo immediately got thrown off and hit a fence hard. Blair went down with the bike and did a log roll to the side of the road. She has a few bruises but is conscious. Jo on the other hand broke her neck and is pretty banged up, and is unconscious. Lucky for Jo the person behind them had a cell phone and she called 911 for them. Unluckily that woman was Rose. She doesn’t see Jo because Jo is over by a fence with pieces of wood on her. When Rose gets out Blair recognizes her and calls her.
“Rose! Mrs. Polniazek!” Blair yelled when Rose got out.
Rose walks over towards Blair and then finally recognizes her. “Blair! What are you doing on a motorcycle?” Rose realizes what she just said. “Oh no, Jo?”
“I don’t know where she is do you think you can help me up then we’ll find her.” Blair said and Rose lends her a hand and they start to hunt for Jo. When they find her Rose hears the ambulance and leaves Blair with Jo while she goes to meet the ambulance.
“Blair go to the hospital with Jo and get you bruises checked out. I’ll go home get Charlie call Rick and be there as soon as I can. Ok?” Rose says as she lays out the rules knowing Blair will go along with it and she does
“Yes ma’am.” Blair says as Rose and a Paramedic helps her into the back of the ambulance with Jo.
When they get to the hospital they rush Jo and Blair into ER. Blair didn’t need to go back there as bad as Jo.

~Chapter Thirteen~

Back at Jo’s house Rick answers the phone and hears Rose on the other line “Rose?”
“Rick, Jo’s in the hospital.” Rose said.
“What! How what happened? I shouldn’t have let her go by herself.” Rick said accusing himself.
“Rick she wasn’t alone. Blair was with her.” Rose said and Rick was shocked.
“Oh, well I guess they made up.” Rick said. “So what hospital is she in?”
“Bronx Memorial.” Rose said.
“I’ll be there as soon as I can. Thanks.” Rick hangs up with Rose and calls his mom to see if she could watch Matt while he went to stay with Jo.
“Hello?” Maggie said.
“Mom, think you could watch Matt for awhile while I go stay with Jo in the hospital?”
“Sure is she ok?” Maggie asked.
“She had a motorcycle wreck.” Rick said.
“Well bring Matt on by and go. Send my love.” She said worrying about Jo.
“Thanks mom, we’ll be over soon.” Rick said as he grabbed a bag and threw some clothes for Matt in and some things he’ll need. “Bye.” He hangs up picks Matt up grabs his keys and leaves.

~Chapter Fourteen~

Rick runs into the hospital and gets directed to where Jo is. There he sees Rose and Charlie. They look like they’ve seen her but he can’t really tell.
“How is she?” Rick asked.
“Go on in and see.” Charlie said sounding angry as he points to Jo’s room.
“Charlie it’s not Rick’s fault. Just ignore him Rick but you can go on in.” Rose said.
“Thanks.” Rick replies as he goes into her room and is scared at what he sees. Jo is hooked up to a ton on machines. Wires all over the place her collarbone is broken and Rick is heartbroken at what he saw. “Jo? Jo can you hear me? If you can hear me please don’t leave me. You parents are outside hoping you get better. Blair is right next door doing fine. She’s worried sick. We all are. You can’t leave us like this.” By the end of that he has tears streaming down his face and he looks up and sees Blair in the doorway. “Hey. How are you doing?”
“The doctors say I’m fine but I really feel like you do. Do you mind if I stay in here with you two?” Blair asked.
“No not at all. I don’t want to be alone in here with her. All this wires around her are starting to get to me.” He says and lets out a light laugh and he sits on the side if Jo’s bed and lets Blair have the chair.
“I don’t blame you.” Blair says as she laughs too.
“I don’t know what I’ll do without her. I’m more worried about Matt then I am myself.” Rick said.
“It has to be hard on you.” Blair said.
“You have no idea.” Rick said.
“She’s done some pretty rotten things but everything seems to work out no matter how many years it takes.” Blair said.
“You know she didn’t mean anything she said that night, she also didn’t know what all she said and how much she hurt you. I reminded her earlier.” Rick said.
“So that’s why she stopped by. It was weird after we made up we both acted like nothing ever happened and she asked me to tag along to her doctors appointment and I did.” She said
“I’m really glad you went I didn’t want her going up her alone and sadly it took this to get my point across.” Rick said.
Out in the waiting room Charlie is standing outside of Jo’s room listening in to Blair and Rick’s conversation.
“They’ve been talking to long.” Charlie said as he went back and sat by Rose.
“Will you cool it.” Rose said already angry with Charlie.
Around eight o’clock a nurse comes in and tells Rick visiting hours are over.
“Do you mind if I stay here with Jo?” Rick asks not wanting to leave Jo there alone.
“Ok fine.” The nurse said in a hurry because she gets to go home soon.
“Thank you.” Rick says.
“Mrs. Warner you need to get back to your room.” The nurse said.
“I’m on my way. See you tomorrow Rick.” Blair said as she and the nurse leave.
“Don’t worry Jo I’m hear and I’m not leaving.” He assures his wife as he brushes some hair out of her face and kisses her then takes off his shoes and climbs into the bed beside Jo’s.

~Chapter Fifteen~

Every hour on the hour Rick is awaken by a nurse coming in to check on Jo.
“Do you guys come in every hour?” Rick asked after the third time.
“During the night every hour on the hour we have to come in and check on her since she hasn’t regained consciousness. When she does it will only be twice a night.” The nurse explains.
“Oh,” Rick said not to surprised.
“See you in a hour Mr. Bonner.” The nurse says. “Push the nurse button if she talks or does anything to where you know she’s regained consciousness.”
“Just call me Rick.” Rick says.
The nurse leaves and Rick gets up and goes and sits in the chair that Blair and him had left there earlier. All of a sudden something happens that he wasn’t expecting so soon.
Jo opens her eyes and real faint and weakly says “Rick? Is that you?”
Rick presses the button “I’m hear sweetie. Are you ok?” He asks.
Before she can get enough air to say anything a nurse comes in.
“I’m glad…you’re here.” Jo says just as soft having to stop and catch her breath between words.
“Well she’s back. You might get a good rest now that we don’t have to check on her anytime soon.”
“Maybe.” Rick said.
“Well I’ll leave you two alone and Mrs. Bonner try not to use up too much energy you need to rest.” The nurse said as she leaves.
All Jo does is nod her head.
“I’m glad… its you here… instead of mom.” Jo finally gets out.
“Go to sleep Jo. You can barely talk you gotta be in so much pain.” Rick said.
“I do hurt.” Jo admits while she yawns.
“I’ll give her some pain medicine.” The nurse says.
“ See you in a while.” Rick said as she kisses her forehead. “I love you.” Goes over to his bed lays down and is asleep in minutes. Jo stays awake and takes time to try to think everything out then finally falls asleep.

Here's Chapter 16-19 (or 16-End)

~Chapter Sixteen~

The next morning Rick and Jo both sleep in and at 9:30 a nurse comes in to bring Jo breakfast. Since she is the same nurse she had late last night she sneaks a plate in for Rick.
“Thank you. You know you didn’t have to bring me something I would’ve took whatever she didn’t eat.” Rick said.
“It’s no problem.” The nurse said. “I’m taking off I’ll see you two tonight.” She said and left.
“Bye” Rick and Jo say.
“I’m still tired.” Jo said.
“Just rest I’m gonna run home take a shower and get some clean clothes.” Rick said.
“Ok.” Jo said. “I can’t wait till I get this brace off my neck.”
“I’ll be back in a little while get some rest.” Rick said as he left.
Jo falls asleep really fast and when she wakes in four hours later Rick is sitting in the chair beside her holding her hand.
“Hey your awake.” Rick said.
“Yea, I guess so.” Jo said grumbling because she hates hospitals and it’s starting to get to her.
“Feel better?” Rick asked.
“A little bit. The whole hospital thing is starting to get to me though.
“I bet, I know you hate this.” Rick said.
“When can I get this dumb brace off?” Jo asked.
“Why are you asking me?” Rick said.
“Thought a nurse had been in and you might have asked for me.” Jo said.
“Oh is that what I was supposed to do?” Rick said.
“Yea!” Jo said.
“You get it off tonight. See I came through.” Rick said.
“Don’t know why I ever doubted you.” Jo said.
“You don’t trust me.” Rick said.
“You know I trust you.” Jo said.
“I know you do. Don’t worry.” Rick said. “I’ll be right back ok? You gotta be feeling better you back to being grumpy when you wake up.”
“Shut up.” Jo said and Rick leaves the room.
Out in the waiting room Rick’s mom Maggie is waiting with Matt. Rick picks up Matt and thanks his mom and tells her they'll be out in a minute.
“Jo,” Rick said.
“Money!” Matt said.
“Matt! Rick how did you get him in here?” Jo said.
“Mom brought him.” Rick said as he put Matt on the floor and goes over by Jo. All of a sudden Matt stands up and tries to walk over to Jo. He’s a little wobbly but he stays up.
“Rick, Rick look.” Jo said as she points to Matt and smiles up at Rick.
“Come on little man you can do it come to mommy and daddy.” Rick said supporting Matt.
“Little Man? You got him a new nickname?” Jo asked.
“Well, its what my dad called me as a kid. Thought I’d pass the name on.” Rick said explaining it to Jo.
“Oh,” Jo said trying her best to remember something good about her father from when she was a little kid.
“Yea my dad was great.” Rick said. “We did everything together, he took me to baseball games. There was not a single county fair he didn’t take me to.” Rick said and then looked at Jo and remembered what she said about her father. “Tell me about your father again.”
“I really don’t remember him too well. I do know that he never really wanted me. He was mad at mom when she wouldn’t get an abortion. Mom didn’r listen to him. After she refused the abortion they had a fight. Glass was thrown and Dad tried as hard as he could for mom to have an abortion but she wouldn’t. Mom went through so much when se was pregnant with me. Dad was awful. By the time I was four I loved dad back then. I had no clue how he thought though. And when I was five he left us and that’s all I remember. After I got older I hated him. Mom told me all he did. I never got ahold of him and I never had any entiton to.” Jo said.
“Jo I’m sorry. For bring my dad up.” Rick said.
“Its ok.” Jo said and picks Matt up. “I’ll see you soon Matt. Bye sweetie.”
“I’ll be right back.” Rick said and takes Matt back out to his mother.

~Chapter Seventeen~

A few weeks later Jo is at home again she went to get some tests run to see how long she has left to live and she’s headed home to tell Rick what she learned.
“Rick! You home?” Jo hollered.
“I’m right here. What did you learn?” He asked.
“I’ll be lucky if I make it to my birthday.” Jo said.
“That’s next month!” Rick exclaimed.
“I know that. What am I gonna do?” Jo asked.
“Don’t worry about it Jo. Don’t worry.” He holds her close and she starts to cry. He picks her up and carries her to there room lays her down the sits beside her and holds her close to him.

~Chapter Eighteen~

Years later when Matt is twelve Rick takes him out to the cemetary to see Jo’s grave. On the way there and while they were there Rick tells Matt about his mom.
“Dad she sounds great.” Matt said.
“She was I only wish that you were older when she died. She loved you so much.” Rick said.
“It sounds like she loved you too Dad.” Matt said.
“I know she did. Come on let’s get home.” Rick said as he montioned for Matt to head on without him and that he wanted a moment alone. Matt took the hint and headed home.
Rick squats down in the grass and says: “Jo I love you and I always will. If I could go back in time and change something I would’ve taken better care of you.
“You did well Rick, you took care of her. She loved you for that.” Blair said as she sneaked up on Rick with Matt at her side.
“Dad, from what you told me it sounds like mom loved us. She always did. I bet that right now she’s watching over us. I only wish I got to know her!” Matt said.
“Rick, have you told him anything abour Jo? Rick, you need to tell him he deserves to know.” Blair debated.
“Dad tell me!” Matt yelled.
“Alright I’ll tell you on the way home. Let’s go.” Rick said.
“The only thing you haven’t said anything about is the day she died and the funeral.” Matt said.
Later that night Rick and Matt are sitting at the table and Rick is talking.

~Chapter Nineteen~

“I knew she was dying. I had known for a few months. I just never thought she was going to die so soon. She never saw age twenty-five. One night she really wasn’t doing well and she started crying. She was crying because she was in so much pain and she didn’t want to leave us. I held her for half the night waiting for her to calm down so I could sleep I was exausted. I had had a hard day at work and I was beat. She was saying how much she loved us. Then all of a sudden she was silent. I checked to see if she was breathing, she wasn't. Right then I knew she was gone. I should’ve called the ambulence right then. I didn’t because I was so upset. I didn’t want to lose her. I knew she was dying but in a way I didn’t believe it. I held her dead body all night and the next morning I called the hospital and got an ambulence. They took her there. They never told me anything that I already knew. It took those idots three hours to come to the conclusion that she was dead. I knew in three minutes. Two days later I was getting ready for visitation. I stood up there by her casket for four hours hugging a lot of her family and friends. Half of them I didn’t know. I couldn’t believe she was gone. The woman I loved was in the casket next to me. She was dead. I couldn’t believe it. After the ceromony the next day I went home shut myself in my room and did nothing for about five days. My mom was taking care of you.” Rick said. Telling Matt every little detail.
“Wow, Dad, you’ve how have you…” Matt said not knowing what to say and just rambles on.
“Stop, I just found out where you got that from. You got that from your mother.” Rick said remembering. “Whenever she didn’t know what to say she’d keep starting opening sentences and then stoping in the middle of it.”
“I’m glad I got something from her.” Matt said.
“You got Jo’s face.” Rick said.
“Really, no kiddin.” Matt said.
“I’m ready to turn in what about you little man? Rick asked.
“When did you start calling me that?” Matt asked.
“The first time you walked. Your mom was in the hospital and I set you on the floor. Then you got up a little wobbly and walked over to you mother and me. I came up with the little an because that’s what my dad called me.” Rick explained.
“Dad, thanks for telling me about mom.” Matt said as he hugged his father. “I’m heading to bed. I gotta give a presentation tomorrow.”
“Do you know the stuff?” Rick asked.
“Yea I know it. Night dad.” Matt said and headed up the stairs.
“Night.” Rick said as he leaned his elbow on the table and cried. “Why her. Why out of all people why Jo.”
Matt hears what was going on downstairs and didn’t really want to hit the sack yet so he came back down and comforted his dad. “ I wish I would’ve known her.”
They hung out downstairs talking, mostly about Jo all night. The next day Rick let Matt skip school so he could get some rest. Every now and then they’d hang out together and talk sometimes it was about Jo and sometimes it was just about what’s going on in life. Matt started having dreams about what would’ve happened if he ‘d known her. Once Rick, Matt, Blair, Mrs. Garrett, Natalie, and Tootie got together and talked about Jo. Matt wanted to learn so much about her. Anytime he had to write something on a family member her chose Jo. He would never know everything but he wanted to know as much as he possibly could. All his life he believed that Jo was watching over him and his dad. Watching everything that they did smiling down at them. Both men thought of Jo as their “ guardian angel” always watching over them, always. No matter what she was there with them. Matt always hoped that someday he and his father would join her up in heaven.
A month later Matt turned in a biography on Jo. A few days later after his teacher had graded them he came up to him and wanted to talk about it.
“Matt would you mind me entering this in a contest. The winner get’s to get the biography published.” His teacher told him.
“Sure, fine by me.” Matt said as he got up and headed home.
When he got home he grabed the phone and dialed Natalie’s number.
“Hello?” Nat said.
“Nat, remember that biography you helped me write a few weeks ago?” Matt asked.
“Yea how’d you do?” Nat asked.
“It has a chance to be published.” Matt said and Natalie congratulates him

offtopic: BTW sry i wasnt online i just got a PS2 and the movie 8 mile and have been watching it and playing games all day and playing games all day yesterday this is the first time i've been on the computer in 2 days a new record for me!
