I remember the show from the early-mid 80s when I was young & recently rediscovered the show (with season 7), fell in love with it & got hooked. Although i'm a new fan, but I am quickly learning & taping. I love classic comedies such as Get Smart, Abbott & Costello, Frasier, ALF, Phil Silvers (Sgt. Bilko,) Perfect Strangers, Simpsons, Night Court, etc. I've read countless TV reference books & belong to all sorts of yahoo groups such as the promostation, tvsboxoffice, station identification, openingcredits squad & closinglogogroup.
I notice that WGN airs older prints of HD including the original Paramount by-line. Their cuts are different than TV Land's prints. A couple weeks ago I taped "Broadway It's Not," (a very good episode, imo) but I accidently cut off a little portion around the second commercial break, so I taped the ending off of WGN which had different cuts. I was surprised at the cuts that TV Land made like excising the whole epilogue--well I put together both episodes including scenes that WGN had only & scenes TV Land had only to make a more complete episode. I was reading the episode summary for "Just A Piccolo" & was surprised to see the scene desribed where Phil Silvers was singing & Mr C's comments before his entrance. Are the cuts always different between the older & newer prints or is it certain episodes that have differing cuts.
In conclusion, which prints do you longtime fans perfer--WGN's or TV Land's?
BTW, I missed "To Beanie or Not to Beanie." Is it a good episode? I tend to like the Joanie episodes.
