The show Taxi, had the craziest theme song I ever heard on a sitcom. This opening theme song reminds me of elevator music or something you would hear at a dentist office. LOL-the theme song set the horrible boring tone for the show. The theme song and show were noth boring with a capital B.

That's amazing. Just before I read the post, I had the Taxi theme song in my head. Actually, I even have it on CD.

I like the Taxi theme song, and I think Taxi is a good show.

I don't like the Three's Company theme song. A stupid theme song for a stupid show.

I like both the "Taxi" and "Three's Company" theme songs very much, as well as the shows themselves. The theme songs I really can't stand are the "Friends," "Seinfeld," and "Wings" theme songs. I really hate the "Friends" theme song lyrics, I hate the way the "Seinfeld" theme song sounds period, and the "Wings" theme song annoys me because my cousin used to love that show and would always hum it to get on my nerves.

Taxi theme song is a great way to get to sleep when someone is having a hard time falling asleep.

Sorry, Solomon, but I also like the Taxi theme - and the show.

I disagree, I think the "Taxi" theme song is beautifully done. When I saw the title to your thread, I thought for sure that you
were referring to the theme song to "Grady." In my opinion, that is "the" worst tv theme song of all time. While the show was a spinoff of "Sanford and Son," the excellent and memorable music of Sanford did not spin off to "Grady."

These were mentioned above, so I thought I'd address this - I dig the theme songs to Taxi, Seinfeld, Wings, and Roseanne.

Any road, here are my top ten worst TV theme songs (this doesn't necessarily mean I dislike the show):

1. The Facts Of Life
2. Family Ties
3. Family Ties
4. Three's Company
5. Growing Pains
6. Charles In Charge
7. Saved By The Bell
8. Diff'rent Strokes
9. Full House
10. Who's The Boss?

As I kid I thought that the theme song didn't go with the show, and I still don't. I think that they could have done better, but what do I know?

I guess we have a difference of opinion. It's cool you don't like the Taxi theme. That's your opinion, I can't change it and nobody on this site can change your opinion. The same goes for you not being able to change the opinion of the people that like the Taxi theme. Guess we should file it under different strokes for different folks.

I kind of like the Taxi theme. After having a brain fart and not being able to remember what it sounds like, I listened to the theme through the theme link on Sitcoms Online and the Taxi theme kind of reminds me of fancy restaurant music. You know, at the salad bar and those songs play. It sounds pretty good.

Hmm, I can't think of a bad theme song. Wait, I got a few. I hate the jazzed up Leave it to Beaver version and when they redid the Happy Days theme for the last season. Ugh, that's my least favorites to me.

absolutely worst: stark raving mad

other bad ones: friends, home improvement, roseanne

I disagree about "get smart"--that theme perfectly fits the mood 7 tone of the show.

It didn't rock that much since it was only on the air for five minutes. And never in the top ten.

Somehow I thought you'd say that as you are the one who started this thread!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but shows don't have to be in the "Top Ten" to be considered good. I don't depend on the idiots at Nielsens to tell me if a show is "good".

And which 5 minutes are you referring to? Sorry, those were the commercials you're talking about!

I agree. None of my favorite shows have been in the "Top Ten." It's not the amount of people that watch the show which makes it good, it's the quality of the show. My favorite Show is "NewsRadio". At one point it was the lowest rated NBC sitcom.

So?? What's the point? They are on my fave shows list, as well! I guess I feel good I am versatile enough to enjoy shows that made it, as well as shows that did not - just as my variegated taste in music of many genres suggests. Not everyone can do that.

And, right on, TVAdam! It is not the quantity of people who watch that matters, but the quality - case in point, the fab Jason Bateman sitcom, "It's Your Move". Having been in the recorded music business and radio, I know the feeling well (I will puke if I hear any more of the "hit songs"<gag>). But I do love Three's Company and Sanford.

You know, the Taxi theme gives me a feel-good, laid-back feeling and makes me imagine I am in sunny southern California or Florida. And that can help up here in frigid Canada! And musically, it is SUPERB!

Don't let SOLOMON get to you. He tries to change people's opinions when he doesn't agree with them and he thinks he's an expert at everything.

Somethign that bothers me as I continue to read your posts is your insistance to not let other people have their own opinion. You ask a question, people respond but if they don't respond to what YOUR opinion is you crack at their posts, make remarks or are just plain rude. You can't tell someone what their opinion is. Agree or disagree but don't be so rude. I seldom will answer any of your posts for this reason. I just continued to read you dissing Taxi and posts that were positive of it and I had to say something.

But you don't debate. You make fun of other peoples opinions if they are not the same as yours. You put down their posts by saying things like "Yah great to fall asleep to".

That is not debating. That is rude. :(

hehehe! I've seen the likes:) But his rhetoric gets a little incendiary...I believe he patterns himself after King Solomon, the man of wisdom;)

Hi Will and Grace,

You have taken the words right out of my mouth and could NOT have said it better.:)

I have been on discussion boards since 1988 (in the days of the BBS) and have noticed that there is always such a pattern in posts of people who believe that they have to attack other's opinions to make a point. I agree with Solomon that it should be in fun. But I also take exception to remarks that sound as if my tastes are somehow unacceptable. We all know that there is room in this world for all sorts of taste in music, TV, books, cars, hobbies, etc. We can always pleasantly agree to disagree.

If words aren't chosen carefully, the written medium, as opposed to the spoken, comes off conveying the wrong meaning,

Thanks for the clarification. I think, if some people tone their rhetoric, we will all have fun.

I still believe Taxi ROCKS;-)

Let's see now, before Solomon started getting everyone mad at him, I believe the topic at hand was about TV shows that had awful theme songs, and right away I thought of a real beaut. Perhaps because the show aired so long ago and doesn't get re-run much anymore, people tend to forget about it, but for its time, it was utterly horrible. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you

Hey Sal,

I LOVE your Green Acres/Petticoat Junction/Beverly Hilbillies cast picture. Especially, nowadays, I am sure a record number of people long for the Good Old Days when those fabulous sitcoms used to air.

Mind if I use the image at my site below?
