What do you think of Melvin Belvin? I Like Eugene MUCH better

I couldn't quite interpret that look in the end of the episode today. What was he staring at? What was he doing? What a strange Belvin...

It would have been incredibly funny if one of the Belvins were cool.

Why did they even have Melvin? He had the same exact role as Eugene...But Eugene did it better.

Too Old? He looked the same age as Bobby and Tommy, And they stuck around.

Not him but his Character. they wanted some one "Younger" younger? Melvin was only 1 year younger, how stupid

That Doesn't even make sence to me why they would do that. Eugene was perfect as he is. Why did they need someone younger, To look and act like him? Heck, The only difference between the 2 is Eugene was funnier.

Not to take away from the actor that played Melvin though, I Think he did a good job. I Just dont see the Logic in replacing Eugene with him.

Ditto. I wish they'd have kept Eugene. Melvin was ok, but to me it was usless to give Eugene a replacement that was exactly like him

Have any of you heard Melvin laughing in some episodes?

Melvin and Eugene were both stupid. The only ep I liked Eugene in was Tell Tale Tart.

I didn't like the way either of the Belvin brothers were treated. While Potsie and Ralph were teased to an extent, they were always included as part of the gang and defended by the Fonz when the chips were down. But, the Fonz just laughs when Melvin is thrown out of his seat by another guy. The Belvin characters were never given any human dimension and seemed to exist solely to make others feel superior. A rather surprising phenomenon at a time when Happy Days had become a virtual morality play with heavy handed messages about how to live.

Did the same actor play both roles? I thought they looked alot alike :)

Dennis Mandel played Eugene and Scott Bernstein play Melvin. I have to agree with GeeBee, I thought the Belvin brothers were treated rather badly. While in school I've seen kids being treated like that, myself included a couple of times.
