I took the tram tour at Universal Studios in Hollywood back in 1985, and saw the 2nd LITB house used for exterior scenes.
I read somewhere it fell into such a state of disrepair it was
torn down in the 1990's. Does anyone have info on this? Was
a replacement ever constructed on Universal's back lot?

I visited it too, around 1990!!! I was so excited because it was the house from The New Leave it to Beaver!!! Could you believe I didn't really watch Leave it to Beaver back then??
Anyway, I think the house might be fine, because it was used in the LITB movie, and for a video recently (I think it was Nelly and Kelly Rowland). But I'm not sure if its still on the Universal tour. If it is, I definately have to go back again!!!

I just thought I might throw this out there....
I was watching "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" one night, and the home they used for that episode was the Cleavers' newer home in the later years. The paintings and other decor (sofa, etc.) were different, but it was the same house for sure.
I'm sure that episode came out before the LITB series had them moving, so that house was used before LITB did.
That episode sure gave me an eerie feeling..... Leave it to Alfred!
I've also heard the same LITB background music in some of Alfred Hitchcock's episodes.......

It was mentioned in Jerry Mathers autobiography, that the Cleaver home was being used in an Alfred Hitchcock episode. It seems as though it was during the time that A Horse Named Nick was being filmed. They had all kinds of problems with that particular episode because the horse didn't behave too well. I think one of the problems may also have related to sharing the set with Hitchcock.
