Mall Tour Experience
I went to the Experience on Mother's Day at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL. It really was an "experience."
The "entertainment for the children" consisted of a kid-size table with crayons and some pictures to color--a far cry from James Earl Jones reading "The Lion King"! The on-stage entertainment consisted of young Britney Spears wannabes doing those pseudo-aerobic exercise dances that attracted many men to the area. We completed the 8 stations of the Lifetime Passport. The "tons of samples" consisted of a travel size deodorant, a sample size bottle of body wash, a tiny bar of Dove soap, a tiny bar of Dove Nutrium and a Dove wipe out of a box--not even a wrapped sample like you would get in the mail. One station offered to wipe face scrub on my hand--no take home sample. (As the tour was packing up, the Dove wipe people were handing out purse pack sized wipes to the other women working the tour, however.) The big gift for completing the Passport was a Lifetime mouse pad. My Mom doesn't have a computer and didn't know what it was for.
The makeover people wanted to do my daughter's hair, but someone else was chosen. She was asked to return when it was slower anyway, because they REALLY wanted to cut her "gorgeous hair" and make it look better on her. At 4:30 there were no more lines, and we returned to the makeover station. They said that they were already closed. The tour was scheduled for 12 to 5!
The massage line was backed up with several men, who got to watch the Britneys dance while they waited! These girls were blatantly flirting with the men as they walked by.
If I win one of the raffle prizes, maybe it will be a worthwhile Experience after all.

Ok, here's the thing. I reviewed this movie previously and gave it a luke warm rating based upon the utter contempt I felt for all the characters,but since some movies require more than one viewing to really appreciate,I felt obliged to give Chicago a second chance as so many others seem to have felt that this is a great film. So I did my duty and I admit I was wrong in my first review.Ashamed to say it but I made a huge mistake the first time around. --------------- THIS MOVIE SUCKED -------------------- I cannot believe that this film is considered the best of 2002.It may or may not be faithful to Bob Fosse's original stage effort,but so what? As a movie to be judged on it's own merits,it is almost totally distasteful.Rather than ramble on and convince no-one,allow me sum it up: CRAPPY PLOT HATEFUL CHARACTERS FORGETTABLE SONGS ANNOYING RATHER THAN STIMULATING DANCING QUICK BUT PURPOSELESS EDITING TECHNIQUE POOR ACTING ACROSS THE BOARD WITH THE SOLE EXCEPTION OF RICHARD GERE ( WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT?) ANNOYING ARTIFICIAL NARRATION AND JARRING TRANSITIONS BETWEEN "SONG & DANCE SEGMENTS" AND the non-musical dramatic interludes. This is such a forgettable and sad effort that my wife actually fell asleep during the film,and the worst than that--- I envied her !!! Not even a pale shadow of Moulin Rouge ( A TRULY IMPRESSIVE AND UNIQUE FILM EXPERIENCE) ---- JUST TYPICAL HOLLYWOOD JUNK THAT SETS THE CAUSE OF MUSICALS BACK ANOTHER 20 YEARS. All on its own !!! Wanted to walk out but my wife was asleep so I endured every last annoying frame. Ended up wishing that Roxie had shot not only her scumbag lover,but also had put her pathetic husband out of his misery,and had a shell in the chamber left to ease my suffering as well.

I don't understand how this film did not get an "R" rating. The movie was hotter than a PG-13 rating. I think the first 10 minutes of the film were extremely sultry with the Velma Kelly dance and then Roxie Hart being groped in the stairwell. Maybe I was an idiot to take my 11 and 13 year old children, but we had to leave the movie after 10 minutes. The film was more suggestive than I would have thought a PG-13 film would be. My 11 year old said, " Why was that lady laying around on the stage and smoking cigarettes while she was singing." I feel like a fool. The new PG-13 film is really an "R."

First of all, i DON'T hate musicals. But this one almost made me puke. It was so awful. 20 minutes of movie and already 5 songs... Too much for my brain to bear... I went to see it at a theatre, because this thing got nominated 13 times. Thirteen bleeding times. My girlfriend said: "It's with Richard Gere, Zeta-Jones and Zellweger. So I think I'll like it." Forget about it. I ran out of the theatre after a scene where drops of water were falling. I was thinking this: "If they make a song out of this dripping, I'm outta here." Guess what? THEY MADE A SONG OUT OF IT!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!! Never again!!!
