Im pretty sure all the shows they run now are cut (some of them arent cut, theyre butchered! they dont even make an efort to keep it looking authentic!) . Its just more noticable in some series (such as I love lucy) than in others. ------------------ Johnny: Don't you people get it? It's the phone cops!! Andy: There is no such thing as phone cops! Johnny: Oh sure. Cover for them! PomeranzFan1 01-06-2001, 08:30 PM I know they've cut good lines out of some "Facts" eps. ------------------ Felix: "Responsibility" is my middle name, Mister! Oscar: And "Pest" is your FIRST name, Mister! tv watcher 01-13-2001, 12:00 AM The days of watching uncut episodes of your favorite old shows are , sad to say, long gone . I myself think it's sad that networks like TV Land and nick at nite '' preserves '' our classic tv shows by butchering their shows. Maybe TV Land should call themselves Butcher Land. The Obsolete Man 01-13-2001, 09:42 PM Yeah, N@N has been butchering Lucy for about 3 years now. All the lucy episodes they show are the same ones you can see in syndication on your local channels. I also remember the good old days, when Nick was "preserving our Television Heratige" by showing uncut, unedited shows. Now, they're madison avenue's b*tch. The average Facts of Life episode is 22 minutes long. Same for Lucy. And don't get me started on Nick's policy of not showing episodes of shows they deem "controversial". Nick at Nite sure does suck now. ilovelucyjg15 02-17-2002, 01:09 AM There should be a law saying that no TV network can cut or edit classic tv shows such as "I Love Lucy". It is unecessary and it should not be tolorated! Joicetti 02-17-2002, 02:35 AM Is there anything like the National Film Registry (by the Library of Congress) for television? If there were such a list of tv shows considered to be national treasures and ILL were on it, then it could never be butchered again! LucyFan 02-17-2002, 04:22 AM I have heard in the past that Nick at Nite butchered Lucy's third series, The Lucy Show badly. I do recall one person stating that Nick at Nite even ruined the opening credits to the show. I must say that Nick at Nite probably started editing their shows around the early 90's. Because when The Lucy Show aired on Nick at Nite it was shown in edited form. Some of the scenes were cut out and it made the show less humorous. So if Nick at Nite butchered the hell out of The Lucy Show then I guess they will do the same to I Love Lucy. Barnabas1 02-17-2002, 09:08 AM me either! dawsongirl 02-17-2002, 07:01 PM Originally posted by ilovelucyjg15 There should be a law saying that no TV network can cut or edit classic tv shows such as "I Love Lucy". They just need to hire some smart editors. ilovelucyjg15 02-17-2002, 10:06 PM Originally posted by dawsongirl Seriously, if you can find a way for the networks to make money without cutting, then they will stop. I don't get why they have to edit everything! dawsongirl 02-17-2002, 10:47 PM Originally posted by ilovelucyjg15 How are they making money by cutting it!? is it that they want to have control or something. I don't get why they have to edit everything! They edit shows to squeeze in more commercials. They make money off the commercials. So more commercials=more money=less show. I find that to be sad. I wish there was some other way to do it rather than cutting shows for more commercial time. But like a host said "It's a business". dawsongirl 02-18-2002, 04:57 PM Originally posted by LucyFan I find that to be sad. So do I. They get rich and we get nothing! It is so much fun to watch Columbia House tapes and see extra footage. But it also makes me wonder. I was watching the first episode of Adam-12 on a CH tape. I only noticed one scene that was cut from the TV Land airings, and that scene was no more than 30 sec. One commercial more?? Big deal- why not just leave it in?? OH! And back when Nick was airing ILL uncut- they couldn't have been losing money, so why cut it now? ilovelucyjg15 02-19-2002, 09:43 PM Originally posted by dawsongirl One commercial more?? Originally posted by dawsongirl It is so much fun to watch Columbia House tapes and see extra footage. Really? By extra footage do you mean that ALL of it is uncut? Columbia House selling I Love Lucy sounds really good, but I don't feel comfortible getting inrolled in those monthly plans. Plus, its a lot of money and it takes for EVER to get all the episodes! But I really wish I could get them:( dawsongirl 02-19-2002, 10:32 PM Originally posted by ilovelucyjg15 Really? By extra footage do you mean that ALL of it is uncut? But I really wish I could get them:( Yes, the whole episode is uncut. You can't tell so much with the later eps (which of course they send first  ) but it's all there. Believe it or not, CH is a rather uncommittment type club. You can cancel anytime (just takes a email), and you don't have to keep any you don't want. But you do have to pay $23.94 every 4-6 weeks. It would take less time to get the DVDs since they come 4 to a DVD instead of 3 to a tape (which I think is a ripoff considering I get A-12 tapes for the same price and they have 4 eps on them). ilovelucyjg15 02-19-2002, 11:01 PM Originally posted by dawsongirl Yes, the whole episode is uncut. You can cancel at anytime and still keep the tapes you already have recieved?
