View Full Version : Gray hair
vienna waits 03-01-2003, 10:16 PM At the age of sixteen, I already have gray hair. I got my haircut today and mixed in with all the brown, there were lots of gray ones when I saw what they had cut. Geez talk about depressing. Anyone else have gray hair?
Titania 03-01-2003, 10:20 PM  are you sure they werent just lighter pieces? thats so young...
no i dont have any...but if i did i think id be looking into hair dye
I have a few gray hairs. They stick out from time to time so they're easy to snip with the scissors.
I used to have a lot more, but that was when I worked at a real stressful job. I actually colored my hair once, that was how obvious it was!
I think your stress level has a lot to do with gray hair.
Of course I'm 34, so no matter how stress free my job is, the gray will keep coming...
:(

Related to Steve Martin?
Fleet 03-01-2003, 10:50 PM Yeah, I've got quite a bit, mostly at the temples and sideburns (but it's white, not gray). It does not bother me- better to have graying hair than going bald... no sign of that and my hair is still very thick. A grandfather was almost all gray when he was 30 years old. Also, an uncle lived to 81 years old and he still had a full head of hair (completely white).
I haven't heard of gray hair at sixteen! I thought it starts appearing around mid- to late-twenties.
dawsongirl 03-01-2003, 11:10 PM I have a few. My mom makes fun of me.

A few gray hairs? Eh, no big deal. Put it this way- would you rather have some gray hair or just some hair period!

Yeah, parents are great like that, aren't they?
;)
Mysty Eyes 03-02-2003, 02:49 PM Well, yes I do have a few of those pesky things. But then I'm 48.
Ringo Starr of The Beatles had a gray streak in his hair. He had it at least since he was a teen, if not younger.
A local newswoman here used to have a gray streak as well (she seems to color it now). But for years she simply had her hair styled in such a way as to incorporate the streak into the sweep of her hair. It was quite attractive, IMO.
Make the most of it, if you can. But if it really bothers you, hair color is out there.
Penny Lane 03-02-2003, 09:12 PM I have some gray hair but it is covered up with a lovely shade of blonde!
I recommend Loreal Excellence Creme. It is the only kind that really covers the gray!:) And it's not drippy!

I have a few friends who started going gray when they were in their late teens, like Yearbook Loser. It's not as uncommon as most think.

That is amazing! I bet people who get it that young are shocked when they see the first gray hair. Still, it is better than going bald at 18 or 19 years old.
*Melissa* 03-02-2003, 10:45 PM I'm 20, and I've found quite a few grey hairs. Stress does such wonderful things to you.
#1_Nancy_McKeon 03-03-2003, 03:26 AM I had a gray hair right after I turned 15... lol I have really dark hair and I was sitting out in the sun with my mom one day and she is like hey...wait a minute...and she was like YOU HAVE A GRAY HAIR! lol And I got her to pull it out... lol I haven't saw any since, and I'm 17 now...but I wouldn't be surprised. I get told I worry about too many things at my age, and I should be out acting 'young'... *shrugs* lol
