Which of the two is the correct spelling?

It's "damnit", damnit! It bugs me when people write "dammit".

Hmm... it's not in my dictionary with either spelling! :lol:

I guess that the "n" version is probably correct, as that is how you spell the word. But "dammit" is less offensive perhaps, since the word is being modified, and thus softened.

I usually use "dammit" whether or not it is correct. It's easier to type, at the very least.

I think it's damn it...as in damn you, damn him, etc.
If I was going to abbreviate it, I'd combine the two words and write damnit.

Actually "damit" is the German word for "therefore". I was listening to an old recording of one of Hitler's speeches over 20 years ago and he started a sentence or clause with "Und damit", meaning "and therefore..."

Other than that, my knowledge of Deutsh is limited. Ich nicht kinnen...:confused:

I prefer it to be two words, DAMN IT. How can it be a cuss-word when preachers use it all the time in reference to people going to hell?:confused:

There are 2 correct spelling.There's dammit and damn it.

"Dammit!" is the colloquial use
and Damn It! is the technically correct form. you see the first a lot in novels and whatnot, maybe even closed captioning.

Damnit. If you're going to spell something, you might as well spell it right.

I think it's damnit. I don't spell it that way though; I spell it as two words. I always thought w/two words was the correct way.
